The relics are mainly distributed along National Highway 6 and National Highway 37, which are the main traffic routes connecting Hanoi with Son La and the Dien Bien Phu battlefield in the past.

These historical relics are vivid and authentic evidence of a glorious, arduous, and sacrificial period of resistance on the heroic land of Son La.
Ms. Ngo Thi Hai Yen, Director of the Provincial Museum and Provincial Library, said: Over the years, the unit has coordinated to preserve, renovate and conserve relics belonging to the system of relics along the transportation route serving the Dien Bien Phu Campaign in the province and appraise and prepare scientific records to propose ranking the relics. After being ranked, the relics are assigned to localities for management. At the same time, professional guidance is provided to units on management and promotion of the historical value of the relics.
Many relics have been focused on by the province and localities to be restored, protected, restored to their original state and invested in building additional memorial items, becoming meaningful destinations for today's generation who want to learn about history and show gratitude to their predecessors. The historical relic of the resistance war against the French in Ban Nhot forest, Gia Phu commune, Phu Yen district, was the resting place of General Vo Nguyen Giap, the campaign commanding officers and units of Divisions 312, 315, 316 marching to the Dien Bien Phu battlefield along Highway 13 (now National Highway 37). In 2021, the relic was restored and embellished, including: General Vo Nguyen Giap Temple, temple yard, ceremony yard, landscape bridge, three-door gate...; with a total area of 10.7 hectares, it has become a meaningful destination for people and tourists when passing through National Highway 37.
Speaking of historical sites associated with the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, it is impossible not to mention the Co Noi Intersection Historical Site, located right at the intersection of National Highway 6 and National Highway 37 in Co Noi Commune, Mai Son District. This place, 71 years ago, was the "throat" where the French army fiercely bombarded to cut off the transportation and supply routes in all aspects for the Dien Bien Phu battlefield. The Youth Volunteer Martyrs Memorial overlooking National Highway 6 was built to commemorate and pay tribute to the more than 100 youth volunteers who heroically sacrificed their lives here.
Mr. Pham Anh Minh, Director of the Mai Son District Cultural and Communication Center, and Director of the Management Board of the Co Noi Intersection Historical Relic Site, said: The relic site regularly welcomes groups of tourists from all over the country to offer incense and visit, especially during holidays and major anniversaries of the country.
In addition, historical relics commemorating the 52nd Tay Tien Regiment in Moc Chau; Pha Din Pass historical and cultural site in Thuan Chau... have also been invested in, embellished, protected and constructed, meeting the needs of visiting, paying tribute to heroic martyrs, learning about history, contributing to the formation of meaningful destinations and becoming "red addresses" for educating revolutionary traditions for today's generation.
The attention to protecting, renovating, investing in the construction of works and auxiliary items at historical relics, showing affection, gratitude for the great contributions of the previous generations, fostering revolutionary traditions, the morality of "drinking water, remembering its source" for the younger generation. At the same time, honoring the historical value of the relics, becoming a meaningful destination for historical tourism journeys on the land of Son La.
