Military Region 5 mobilized more than 500 officers and soldiers to support Gia Lai in responding to the storm.
On the morning of November 6, Division 2 (Military Region 5) mobilized more than 350 officers and soldiers along with dozens of vehicles and mobile equipment to communes and wards in Gia Lai province to prevent, combat and overcome the consequences of natural disasters.

With the spirit of "Proactive, urgent, safe, effective", the unit has carefully reviewed forces, means, and materials to best ensure rescue work.
Specialized vehicles such as cars, boats, pumps, field tents... were deployed to key areas, promptly supporting the government and people in responding to the storm.

On the same day, Brigade 573 sent more than 150 officers and soldiers to An Nhon Nam ward, Binh Dinh ward and Tuy Phuoc Bac commune (Gia Lai province), coordinating with local authorities to help people reinforce houses, move property, trim trees, and be ready to carry out other emergency tasks.
Previously, the brigade coordinated to review, grasp the situation and develop response plans.

On the same morning, Lieutenant General Le Ngoc Hai, Commander of Military Region 5, directly inspected storm prevention and control work at Quy Nhon Fishing Port and Phong Lan Kindergarten - a concentrated storm shelter in Quy Nhon ward.
At Quy Nhon Fishing Port, Lieutenant General Le Ngoc Hai praised the proactive spirit of the local Party Committee, government and armed forces in implementing storm response plans, and at the same time requested strict implementation of the "4 on-site" motto, firmly grasping the situation, and not being passive or surprised.

The Commander of Military Region 5 emphasized that the Gia Lai Provincial Border Guard needs to increase inspection, propaganda, and guidance for fishermen to bring their boats and aquaculture cages to safe anchorages, and absolutely not let people stay on the boats or return after they have been evacuated.

At Phong Lan Kindergarten, Lieutenant General Le Ngoc Hai requested units to carefully prepare accommodation, clean and spacious, and ensure nutritious meals so that people can feel secure while taking shelter from the storm.

Nhon Chau Island is ready to fight in the storm
On the morning of November 6, Mr. Duong Hiep Hung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nhon Chau island commune (Gia Lai province), said that the locality has completed plans and scenarios to respond to storm No. 13.

Accordingly, the island commune mobilized 91 officers and soldiers, assigning 7 teams to be on duty 24/7.
"The forces are deployed to residential areas, eating and living with the people to be ready to respond to any unusual natural disaster situations," said Mr. Duong Hiep Hung.
By 8:00 a.m. the same day, the locality had evacuated 184 households with 407 people. The Commune Civil Defense Command had prepared enough food, drinking water, medicine, and ensured security and environmental sanitation at the evacuation site.


Elderly people on Nhon Chau island were evacuated to safety.
For households with solid houses, shock troops were mobilized to support the reinforcement of houses, and at the same time, check and evacuate households with solid houses but located in dangerous coastal areas.
Quang Ngai : Evacuating people to shelter from storm number 13
On the morning of November 6, localities in Quang Ngai province urgently evacuated people to safe shelters before storm No. 13 made landfall.
Accordingly, officers and soldiers of Binh Thanh Border Guard Station (Quang Ngai Border Guard) coordinated with local authorities to urgently support the evacuation of people in Hai Ninh and Vinh An villages (Binh Son commune) to safe shelters.


In Hai Ninh and Vinh An villages, the government has arranged Binh Thanh Kindergarten for people to take shelter from the storm.




Leaders of Binh Son commune came to inspect the relocation work; visited, encouraged and supported food for people temporarily residing here.


In Sa Huynh ward, Quang Ngai province, Mr. Nguyen Viet Thanh, Chairman of the ward People's Committee said: "On the morning of November 6, the locality mobilized and evacuated people to pre-arranged safe places. The ward has about 600 households, 3,600 people, with over 65 locations planned to be concentrated for evacuation work."


Mr. Pham Hong Hung, Head of the Thach Bi 2 Residential Group, Sa Huynh Ward, used a motorbike to carry two loudspeakers throughout the residential area to remind people to respond to storm No. 13.
Mr. Hung said: "The residential group has been proactive by broadcasting propaganda through loudspeakers and organizing groups to go door to door to encourage people to evacuate to safe places such as cultural houses and schools for safe shelter if their houses are not safe."



Meanwhile, Duc Lam Pagoda (Long Phung commune, Quang Ngai province) opened its doors to welcome people from neighboring areas to take shelter from storm No. 13.
Venerable Thich Hanh Nhan, abbot of the pagoda, said that according to the meteorological agency's forecast, storm No. 13 is moving quickly inland, with the potential to cause heavy rain and strong winds, so the pagoda is proactively welcoming people to take shelter.
According to the Quang Ngai Province Irrigation Department, by 9 a.m. on November 6, the entire province had evacuated a total of 5,545 households with 18,297 people to safety.
Of which, the communes and wards in the East of the province evacuated 3,575 households with 10,888 people (2,637 households/8,139 people combined, 902 households/2,749 people concentrated). In the West of the province, 1,970 households with 7,409 people were evacuated (96 households/451 people combined, 1,874 households/6,958 people concentrated).
Squadron 23 (Command of Coast Guard Region 2) coordinated with local authorities to organize support to evacuate 60 households to safe shelters. People were temporarily arranged in solid locations such as the commune People's Committee headquarters and schools in the area.




On the same morning, Ly Son Border Guard Station continued to organize forces to go to the area to help people reinforce their houses and trim tall trees to ensure safety for people and property before storm No. 13.



By the morning of November 6, all 22 crew members of the STAR BUENO ship stranded in Dung Quat waters (Quang Ngai province) had left the ship and safely reached shore to avoid storm No. 13.

Of which, on the evening of November 4, the first 12 crew members left the ship under the captain's orders; on the afternoon of November 5, the remaining 10 crew members, including the captain, were brought by tugboat HVS 51.H5 with their luggage to Dung Quat port.
Officers and soldiers of Dung Quat Port Border Guard Station and Quang Ngai Provincial Border Guard received, supported, and completed procedures for the crew members.
After 11 days stranded, the entire crew of the STAR BUENO ship was brought safely ashore before storm No. 13 entered Quang Ngai waters.
