Many large international buyers and distribution chains have connected with Vinamilk for their demand for dairy products and nutritional drinks at the recent 2024 International Supply Chain Connection Exhibition.
Mr. Vo Trung Hieu introduced Vinamilk's export products to Ms. Phan Thi Thang, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, and delegates visiting the exhibition.
Promoting exports with multinational retail and distribution chains
Taking place from June 6 to 8, 2024, the Vietnam International Sourcing Expo 2024 offers the opportunity to meet directly with more than 300 distribution channels and buyers from 60 countries/territories and nearly 10,000 visitors.
Although the country does not have a strong position in the dairy industry, the booths of dairy companies such as Vinamilk attracted the attention of many international customers. As the 6th largest dairy brand in the world and having brought its products to 60 countries/territories, Vinamilk said that hundreds of customers came to visit and learn about the products.
This year's exhibition attracts many partners from diverse markets such as Africa, Japan, Southeast Asia, South America...
In addition to existing business partners from the Middle East, Africa... many leading retail chains in the world such as Walmart (USA), Aeon (Japan), Woolworths (Australia), Cosmo Sourcing (Finland), East Asia Food (Southeast Asia), West zone (Dubai)... also showed interest in products from Vinamilk. Many partners also connected 1:1 to promote the next steps of negotiation and trade. This shows that the efforts of businesses are opening the door for Vietnamese dairy products to participate in the global supply chain.
“The exhibition is a great opportunity to bring together many large international buyers to Vietnam, with specific needs and requirements. From there, the connections between businesses and buyers become more focused and effective. In addition to meeting with existing major partners, Vinamilk has recorded many buyers who have proactively sought out and promoted the next steps such as visiting Vinamilk’s factories, farms, etc.,” added Mr. Vo Trung Hieu, Vinamilk’s International Business Director.
Vinamilk and many large buyers and distribution chains met 1:1 to seek business opportunities.
Meeting the needs of global distribution chains
To enter and stand firm abroad, a representative of Vinamilk - a company with 25 years of experience exporting around the world - said that businesses must first build their reputation in their own market; then find partners to accompany and share the brand story in the international market.
In many markets, “service, price and quality” are the three pillars that help Vinamilk branded products such as Dielac, Alpha, Ong Tho, Ngoi Sao Phuong Nam... stand firm, even entering the stage of gaining “brand-love” from consumers, such as in the Middle East market...
“This year is the year we celebrate 10 years of cooperation with Vinamilk and we really appreciate them. During my visit to Vietnam, I also visited Vinamilk's factory and farm. Seeing the product manufacturing process with my own eyes, I understand why Vinamilk always provides quality products, on time and ready to meet all the needs of our market. This has helped us to successfully trade Vinamilk products over the past 10 years and will continue for many years to come,” said Mr. Zia Ahmad Mohd Asmail - representative of Vinamilk's major partner in the Middle East region.
Major customers come from the Middle East, Vinamilk's traditional strong market for infant milk powder and nutritional powder products.
But if businesses want to become part of the supply chains of the world's leading retailers, they need to have a different mindset. Other necessary criteria to consider are large-scale production capacity, how to increase cost competitiveness, ensure price stability in the face of market fluctuations, logistics, exchange rates and meet standards for supply chain sustainability....
Large production capacity with 15 farms and 16 factories at home and abroad, more than 250 product types and complete export services contribute to Vinamilk's products having competitive and stable selling prices. In recent times, Vinamilk's export products in this direction have recorded positive growth rates in markets such as Australia, New Zealand... which are countries with strengths in the dairy industry. In the near future, Vinamilk also plans to expand to markets such as South America, Africa...
Vinamilk owns a modern factory system with large-scale production capacity.
Vinamilk also has a great advantage in being at the forefront of sustainable development trends quite early. In Vietnam, the company is the first to have both a factory and a farm that are carbon neutral according to PAS2060:2014 standards...
Sharing at the Workshop on exporting agricultural products to multinational distribution chains within the framework of the exhibition, Mr. Hieu brought good news when major partners highly appreciated the fact that Vinamilk has 3 carbon neutral units according to international standards.
“The positive feedback is that they are willing to join Vinamilk in putting these ‘green’ certifications on product packaging to convey to consumers, as the trend of sustainable consumption is growing,” said Mr. Hieu.
Mr. Vo Trung Hieu - Vinamilk International Business Director - shares about Vinamilk's export experiences.
In the context of the “green” consumption trend increasingly creating great impacts in the world, experts say that businesses need to invest early in sustainable development to increase value and long-term advantages, especially in industries that Vietnam does not have strengths in.
