Traffic jams, people struggle on the first working day of 2024

On the morning of January 2, the first day back to work after the 2024 New Year holiday, many roads and streets in Hanoi such as Nguyen Trai, Lang, Ring Road 3, Tran Duy Hung, Nguyen Chi Thanh... were seriously congested, making it difficult for people to get to work and take their children to school (Photo: Minh Huy).

At 7:30 a.m., there was a long traffic jam on Ring Road 3 and Khuat Duy Tien Street, making it difficult for vehicles to move.

Nguyen Trai Street leading into Hanoi's inner city was congested with vehicles on the first working day of the new year 2024.

At 8am, thousands of cars and motorbikes from Nguyen Trai Street poured into Nga Tu So, causing serious traffic congestion in this area.

At 8:20 a.m., cars and motorbikes were mixed together and crowded into the city center on Tran Duy Hung street.

Cars lined up on Tran Duy Hung Street, causing many sections to be overloaded. Some motorbikes, unable to wait, drove onto the sidewalk to get past the crowd.

To escape traffic jams, a series of motorbikes entered the BRT lane (lane reserved for rapid buses) on Le Van Luong street.

Long traffic jams make many people feel tired on the first working day of the year.

By 9:30 am, the So Intersection was basically clear and traffic was stable. Before that, Hanoi had re-organized traffic flow in the So Intersection area.
