Esports: Determining the final match of VCS, revealing 2 teams participating in the world finals

(NLDO) - Closing the loser bracket final of VCS Summer 2024, the second ticket to the League of Legends World Finals belongs to Vikings Esports. In addition, the VCS grand final will be a rematch between Vikings Esports and GAM Esports.

On the evening of August 17, Team Whales and Vikings Esports faced off in the loser bracket finals to decide who would advance to the grand finals of VCS Summer 2024 to determine the top team in the League of Legends (LoL) 2024.

This is also the match for the last ticket representing Vietnam to the 2024 World League Finals taking place in Germany.

Against Team Whales, Vikings Esports proved that they were completely worthy of appearing in the VCS grand final and won the second ticket to Germany when they won an overwhelming 3-0 victory in the BO5 series (5 rounds).

Vikings Esports wins 2nd ticket to world finals

With that, Vikings Esports won the last ticket to the world finals. Previously, GAM Esport was the first team from the VCS region to win a ticket to the world arena when it defeated Coach SofM's Vikings Esports with a score of 3-2.

Now, the grand final will be a rematch between Vikings Esport and GAM Esports to find the prestigious owner of the VCS 2024 Cup taking place at 6:00 p.m. today (August 18) at Nguyen Du Stadium.

VCS (Vietnam Championship Series) LoL is a professional e -sports tournament of League of Legends and has been operating for the longest time in the country. After separating from GPL in 2018, the tournament became a separate region with official tournament slots for the world finals.

But after 6 years, the achievements of domestic representatives in the international arena are still lackluster, often eliminated in the outer rounds and their domestic appeal has decreased.

From 2025, VCS will be officially downgraded in Riot Games' regional planning. Vietnamese representatives who win a spot in the tournament will participate in the APAC regional tournament against opponents from Taipei (China), Australia and Japan. From there, the teams with good results in the event will be sent to three major international tournaments.
