The Ferrari SC40 was officially revealed at Finali Mondiali 2025 at the Mugello circuit. This is a one-off model under the Special Projects program, developed from the Ferrari 296 GTB platform under the direction of Design Director Flavio Manzoni and Ferrari Styling Centre, exclusively for a VIP customer.
Directly inspired by the legendary Ferrari F40, the SC40 combines a neo-classical design language with a V6 plug-in hybrid powertrain. Total output is announced at 830 horsepower, driving the rear wheels via an 8-speed F1 DCT gearbox. Ferrari says the car accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 2.9 seconds; the reference top speed of the 296 GTB is over 330 km/h.

Neoclassical design, F40 spirit in a modern frame
The body is finished in Bianco SC40 white, and features a large rear spoiler, NACA air vents, and Lexan engine bay glass – all nods to the F40. The low center of gravity, squared-off rear end, and race-inspired aerodynamic trim make the SC40 stand out from the standard 296 GTB.
Ferrari uses carbon fiber and Kevlar extensively for many exterior details, aiming for the material association of the F40. The surfaces are minimal in decoration, instead emphasizing aerodynamics and reducing weight. As a Special Projects product, the SC40 allows for deep personalization while still maintaining the pure Ferrari philosophy.

Minimalist 296 GTB-style cabin, expensive and purposeful materials
The SC40's interior retains almost the same layout as the 296 GTB: driver-focused, few buttons, no large central screen. All key parameters and functions are integrated in the 16-inch digital instrument cluster in front of the driver; the passenger gets an 8.8-inch secondary screen.
The materials continue to recall the F40: many details in the cabin use carbon fiber – Kevlar. The racing seats are covered in Rosso Jacquard red microfiber, with the SC40 logo embossed on the backrest. The dashboard, center console and door panels are covered in Charcoal black Alcantara, creating a durable, lightweight and anti-reflective surface – in the spirit of a performance-oriented Ferrari.

Performance and driving experience: 830 horsepower V6 PHEV, rear-wheel drive and 8-speed F1 DCT
The SC40 shares the 296 GTB's rear-wheel drive and PHEV setup, but in a configuration that produces a total of 830 horsepower. An eight-speed F1 DCT dual-clutch transmission handles gear changes. Ferrari claims a 0–100 km/h time of 2.9 seconds; the 296 GTB's reference top speed exceeds 330 km/h.
With its mid-engine, rear-wheel drive layout, the SC40 aims for the steering response and body balance typical of Ferrari’s berlinetta range. The electric motor’s complementary role in the hybrid system helps the car maintain a seamless acceleration rhythm, especially on corner exits, while the F1 DCT gearbox prioritizes short shift times and a clear mechanical connection.

Safety and driver assistance technology: Core focus on pure experience
Ferrari didn’t release additional details about the SC40’s ADAS package or driver assistance technologies. The approach for this one-off model is focused on design, materials, and performance. The interface layout is within reach of the driver, without a large central screen, in keeping with the minimalist operating philosophy seen on the 296 GTB.
Price and Positioning: One-off Special Projects for Collectors
The SC40 is a unique model, part of the Special Projects program - where Ferrari created models such as SP-8, KC23, SP51, SP48 Unica, BR20, Omologata... Some projects were not even widely announced.
The SC40’s price has not been disclosed. According to sources, it will be many times higher than the 296 GTB’s suggested retail price of $333,255 in the US. That reflects the collectability, level of customization, and sheer scarcity of a genuine one-off.

Conclusion: A Ferrari that honors the F40 legacy with contemporary standards
The Ferrari SC40 demonstrates how Maranello has translated the F40 heritage into a modern configuration: purposeful design, top-notch materials and powerful performance from the V6 hybrid system.
- Pros: F40-inspired design; unique Special Projects build; carbon-Kevlar materials; 830-horsepower V6 PHEV, 0–100 km/h 2.9 seconds; focused driver interface.
- Cons: Undisclosed price and very limited availability; no large center screen; Ferrari doesn't detail driver assistance tech details.
