Ford Explorer 2026 is about to launch, more modern design

Images of the upgraded 2026 Ford Explorer SUV were recently posted on the website of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

Recently, images of the upgraded version of the Ford Explorer 2026 were posted on the website of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China (MIIT). Produced by the Changan Ford joint venture, this model is a mid-life upgrade version. Therefore, the car is mainly adjusted in exterior details.

More specifically, the 2026 Ford Explorer has been refined at the front. Here, it features a new frameless grille, decorated with horizontal bars and chrome accents. The grille seamlessly connects to the new headlight clusters on either side. Additionally, a continuous light strip runs across the top of the grille, promising an impressive visual effect.

At the rear, the 2026 Ford Explorer uses the same taillight cluster design on both sides. Right below the taillight cluster is a chrome strip across the trunk door, giving the rear area a "wider" feel. In addition, the car is also equipped with symmetrical exhaust pipes on both sides and a new gray cover on the rear bumper.

Interior images of the 2026 Ford Explorer for the Chinese market have not yet been released. However, it would not be surprising if the car only receives minor improvements in terms of materials and amenities. In its current version, this large SUV boasts a 27-inch 4K screen that spans the entire dashboard.

With its split-screen mode, this feature caters to both the driver and the front passenger. Next is the digital instrument panel behind the steering wheel, a small screen for climate control, a head-up display (HUD), a rotary gear selector on the center console, and AI-powered voice command functionality...

In addition, the vehicle also features gesture control, facial recognition, interior ambient lighting, wireless phone charging, and a panoramic sunroof. The dimensions of the 2026 Ford Explorer remain unchanged. The vehicle still has a length x width x height of 5,064 x 2,004 x 1,790 mm respectively, and a wheelbase of 3,025 mm.

Under the hood remains the same engine, the CAF484WQMA, manufactured by Changan Ford. This 2.3L turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine delivers a maximum power of 213 kW (approximately 289 horsepower) and a maximum torque of 425 Nm. This engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

The car has driving modes such as Road, Gravel, Grass, Snow, Rocks and Mountain. The launch date and price of the 2026 Ford Explorer in the Chinese market have not been revealed yet. In Vietnam, this large SUV has been discontinued.
