According to Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong, the 7th Hanoi International Film Festival has special significance as Hanoi and the whole country solemnly celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital, an occasion to honor the eternal value of history, traditional cultural values and unique beauty of Hanoi with its thousand years of civilization.
On the evening of November 7, the opening ceremony of the 7th Hanoi International Film Festival 2024 (HANIFF VII) took place at the Hoan Kiem Theater, Hanoi city.
Variety of movie genres
In his opening speech, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong said that the 7th Hanoi International Film Festival with the slogan "Cinema: Creativity - Take Off" chaired by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the Hanoi People's Committee has special significance, coinciding with the time when Hanoi and the whole country solemnly celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital.
With 117 films selected for the competition categories, world cinema panorama program, German cinema spotlight, contemporary Vietnamese films, the 7th Hanoi International Film Festival attracted the participation of 51 cinemas from countries and territories.
With diverse genres of feature films, documentaries, and animations in terms of themes and methods of expression, this Film Festival brings to the audience global issues, diverse aspects of social life, as well as the beauty and unique customs of each nation in the world.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong affirmed: "It can be seen that the 7th Hanoi International Film Festival is not only a special cultural event but also contributes to promoting the sustainable development of the Vietnamese film industry, helping Vietnamese cinema affirm its position on the world map and make its mark in international integration."
Compared to the previous 6 seasons, the 2024 Film Festival has been upgraded in both quality and scale, attracting many colorful films with unique and creative styles, becoming the largest international film festival held in Vietnam.
The 7th Hanoi International Film Festival is also an opportunity for excellent domestic and international producers, directors, artists and actors to spread their passion for their profession, explore opportunities for production cooperation, and expand the world film market in general and Vietnam in particular.
Hanoi welcomes spiritual products
At the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Vu Thu Ha sent greetings to delegates, producers, directors, artists, and excellent actors from 51 countries and territories, and domestic and international reporters attending the opening ceremony of the 7th Hanoi International Film Festival.
Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Vu Thu Ha emphasized that the event was held in Hanoi, the capital of a thousand years of culture, the city for peace with a rich and diverse cultural heritage, a place where artistic talents converge, crystallize, and shine, a place to nurture and promote cultural creativity, to create unique cultural products.

In recent years, Hanoi has focused on developing the cultural industry on the principle of ensuring harmony between preservation and development, maximizing the potential, strengths, and traditional cultural values imbued with identity. At the same time, connecting, expanding the network, and strengthening cooperation with international organizations, experienced cities, and prestigious countries in developing the cultural industry.
Thereby, affirming Vietnam and Hanoi as a safe, friendly destination with the capacity to organize large-scale, quality events, build unique cultural events and products, creating the brand of the capital and Vietnam in the international arena.

It is known that within the framework of the 7th Hanoi International Film Festival, many events will take place such as: Opening Ceremony of Film Project Market; Exhibition "Vietnam's Heritages Recognized by UNESCO - Experience through Cinema Films"; 02 Workshops with the theme "Spotlight on German Cinema" and "Developing Film Production Exploiting Historical Themes and Adapting from Literary Works".
During the Film Festival, Hanoi will also organize outdoor mobile film screenings, free of charge for people in districts across the city.
| At the Opening Ceremony, the Organizing Committee introduced the Awards of the Film Festival. Accordingly, the best feature film is worth 125 million VND; the best short film is worth 75 million VND; the best feature film director is worth 75 million VND; the best male lead actor is worth 75 million VND; the best female actor is worth 75 million VND. The films participating in the Festival will be screened at 3 cinema complexes: National Cinema Center (87 Lang Ha, Dong Da, Hanoi); BHD Star Cineplex (8th floor of Vincom Trade Center, 2 Pham Ngoc Thach, Dong Da, Hanoi); CGV Mipec Tower, (5th floor of Mipec Tower, 229 Tay Son, Dong Da, Hanoi). |
