Although silver has struggled to keep up with gold's strong growth, some analysts remain confident in the precious metal's potential, according to Kitco.

Ole Hansen, head of commodity strategy at Saxo Bank, said he still sees potential for silver prices to reach $40 an ounce this year.

While recession fears have hit industrial demand for silver, which accounts for about half of global consumption, Hansen believes the current transition to green energy can continue to hold steady despite an economic downturn.

“Silver’s use in the energy transition industry is unlikely to see major disruptions even in a recession. Silver is forecast to remain in short supply through 2025, marking the fifth consecutive year of shortages. Meanwhile, the growth of gold is also attracting investor attention to silver,” he said.
