World silver price stays above 58 USD/ounce, increasing strongly for many weeks
On the morning of December 4, the spot silver price in the Asian market opened at 58.48 USD/ounce. The world silver price has surpassed the 58.5 USD/ounce mark, recording an increase of more than 62% compared to the beginning of August. The increase of silver is stronger than that of gold in the past 3 years.
The rapid rise could put the metal under profit-taking pressure. However, many forecasts remain optimistic. Coincodex expects silver prices to rise to $61 an ounce next week and reach $88.50 an ounce in three months.
Despite a recovery in the dollar and strong stock markets, silver prices continued to rise on tight supplies. Reserves in London fell and inventories in Shanghai fell to a 10-year low.
Industrial demand, particularly from green energy such as solar power and lithium batteries, is a key driver of growth. Experts warn that the risk of a silver supply shortage could persist. Metals Focus predicts a prolonged supply deficit.
