Today, global rubber prices continued to rise in China, pulling the Japanese market up as well. This was due to bad weather in Thailand and intense border clashes between Thailand and Cambodia.

Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said he would discuss the escalating conflict with Cambodia with US President Donald Trump, as border clashes entered their fifth day. This tense situation is becoming a new geopolitical risk factor, potentially boosting markets.

Analyst Jiong Gu from Yutaka Trusty Securities noted that the conflict along the Thailand-Cambodia border is causing concern not so much because of its direct impact on production, but primarily because of the risk of disruption to logistics and industry. Gu believes that although the support from the weak yen is waning due to expectations that the Bank of Japan (BOJ) will raise interest rates next week, geopolitical risks in Thailand are becoming a new supporting factor for the market.

The yen strengthened partly due to three sources familiar with the matter revealing that the Bank of Japan (BOJ) is likely to maintain its commitment to further interest rate hikes at its upcoming meeting. However, they also stressed that the pace of tightening will depend on the economy 's response.

Japan's Nikkei index continued to rise, registering its third consecutive weekly gain, driven by optimistic sentiment from Wall Street and market anticipation of two key central bank meetings.

On a macroeconomic level, Chinese leaders have pledged to maintain an "active" fiscal policy next year to boost consumption and investment to keep economic growth high, a target analysts predict could be around 5%. In the oil market, prices rose at the end of the week amid concerns about supply disruptions from Venezuela, although still heading toward a weekly decline due to cautious sentiment.

Thus, today's rubber prices (December 13, 2025) in the world have recovered compared to yesterday.
