Family takes Chau Hai My to her resting place

Relatives held a funeral for Hong Kong actress Chau Hai My, four months after her death.

On April 18, Chau Hai My's mother sent a letter to fans, posted on the artist management company's Weibo account. She wrote: "Hai My's new house is in Beijing, the cemetery is in the Changping district. My family looked at many locations in both Hong Kong and Beijing, and felt that this new house was the most suitable."

According to the artist's mother, Chau Hai My loved Beijing during her lifetime, leaving Hong Kong to live and work here for more than 20 years. She also spent her last days here.

The mother said she kept all of Chau Hai My’s social media accounts, including her pet’s, so fans could access them if they missed the actress. She thanked Hai My’s friends for their encouragement and support as they went through this difficult and tragic period.

Chau Hai My suddenly passed away in December 2023 at her home, at the age of 57. According to St Headline , the first person to discover Hai My in a coma was the actress's colleague. That same morning, this person found Hai My lying unconscious on the floor and took her to the hospital.

All of Chau Hai My's assets and real estate were inherited by the actress's mother. According to HK01 , the star left behind assets worth over 15 million USD.

Chau Hai My entered the entertainment industry in 1985, after competing in Miss Hong Kong, and became famous through many works such as The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber 1994, The Last Emperor , Unrequited Love, The Legend of Wu Meiniang, Ashes of Love. Many Asian audiences called Hai My the "dream girl" of her time.

In 1999, Chau Hai My fell in love with a businessman named Ngu and broke up after the actress contracted systemic lupus erythematosus and had to undergo treatment for half a year. In the early 2000s, Hai My fell in love with an architect seven years her junior. They broke up in 2015 because the actress did not want to get married. Since then, Chau Hai My has not publicly dated anyone.
