Gia Lai: Verifying and clarifying the case of document burning in Phuoc My commune in the past

On the afternoon of August 11, speaking with a reporter from SGGP Newspaper, a leader of Quy Nhon Tay Ward Police (Gia Lai Province) said that they are coordinating with the Provincial Police to verify and clarify the case of document burning that occurred at Phuoc My Commune headquarters (formerly Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh Province; now Quy Nhon Tay Ward).

According to the ward police leader, the incident happened during the previous Phuoc My commune government. The commune police reported and transferred the case to the provincial police for verification and investigation.

Clips of the document burning incident in Phuoc My commune were previously posted on social networks by local people.

Initial information said that at the end of June 2025, many people discovered smoke rising from the premises of the former Phuoc My Commune People's Committee headquarters. When approaching, people saw many stacks of documents with red seals burning in the water tank, only able to put out the fire and save a part. Upon inspection, these documents were mostly complaints, denunciations and official dispatches to resolve people's denunciations.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Minh, Chairman of Quy Nhon Tay Ward People's Committee, confirmed that he is cooperating and ready to provide documents as requested by the Provincial Police. "Currently, the case is handled by the Provincial Police, we only cooperate as requested," said Mr. Nguyen Quang Minh.

According to a representative of Gia Lai Provincial Police, in the immediate future, they will investigate and verify when there is feedback from the people; whether it is right or wrong, we will wait for the conclusion from the professional agency.

A leader of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee said that in the near future, the province will direct the Provincial Inspectorate to investigate the contents of previous accusations and reports related to Phuoc My commune, including the above-mentioned document burning incident.
