At the end of October, Apple introduced a new version of the MacBook Air M3 with a minimum RAM capacity of 16GB.
Interestingly, Apple is selling this model at a lower price than the previous 8GB RAM version.
Also included in this launch were the M4 series chips, which are featured in the 14-inch MacBook Pro, 16-inch MacBook Pro, and Mac mini.
Equipped with the powerful M4 chip, the newly launched Mac mini is priced from just 12.5 million VND, impacting older generation devices running the M3 chip that are sold as brand new.
According to market research, the MacBook Air M3 with 8GB of RAM is priced at around 25.5 million VND, which is 3 million VND lower than at the beginning of November.

According to information from several authorized Apple dealers, the price of a 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M3 chip (16GB RAM - 1TB HDD) is around 44.5 million VND; a 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M3 Pro chip (36GB RAM - 1TB HDD) is 65 million VND; and a 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M3 Max chip (36GB RAM - 1TB HDD) is 75 million VND. These models running the M3 series have seen price reductions of 4-6 million VND.
According to Mr. Nguyen Tuan Thanh, the owner of a business selling Apple products in Ho Chi Minh City, the introduction of Macbooks and Mac minis using the M4 series chips has caused a significant drop in the price of Macbooks running the M3 series chips.
"In particular, the 16-inch Macbook Pro with the M3 Max chip, 48GB RAM, and 1TB storage has dropped by up to 10 million VND, with the current market price starting from only 76 million VND," Thanh revealed.
Having been around for four years, the MacBook Air with the M1 chip, which Apple launched in 2020 at a price of 24 million VND, has now dropped to the mid-range segment with the new model, as the 2020 MacBook Air M1 256GB now costs just over 18 million VND.
The 16-inch Macbook Pro with the M3 chip, 48GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage has seen the biggest price drop due to low demand, coupled with the launch of the M4 chip.
This model is also the most affordable Macbook that supports Apple Intelligence and will remain reliable for several more years.
Towards the end of the year, while demand increases, the prices of Apple's laptop line are predicted to remain stable.
According to Mr. Vo Thai Anh, who works at a Macbook retail store in Dong Da district ( Hanoi ), Macbook models running M chips currently have very good prices and a fairly stable supply, so there is no need to worry about price increases towards the end of the year.
The price of Macbooks will also decrease slightly in early 2025, but not significantly.
The manufacturer states that all three versions of the Apple M4 Series chips are manufactured using a second-generation 3nm process to improve performance and optimize power consumption compared to their predecessor, the Apple M3 Series.
Combined with a Neural Engine that's twice as fast as the previous generation, the Apple M4 Series promises to deliver fast processing capabilities for AI-related tasks/features (more specifically, Apple Intelligence).
The Apple M4 boasts a CPU with up to 10 cores (4 high-performance cores and 6 power-efficient cores), delivering up to 1.8 times faster performance than the M1.
The Apple M4 Pro is equipped with a CPU of up to 14 cores (including 10 high-performance cores and 4 power-efficient cores). This processor offers 1.9 times faster CPU performance than the M1 Pro and 2.1 times faster than the Intel Core Ultra 7 258V.
The Apple M4 Max boasts a CPU with up to 16 cores, featuring 12 high-performance cores and 4 power-efficient cores. The M4 Max's CPU performance is 2.2 times faster than the M1 Max and 2.5 times faster than the Intel Core Ultra 7 258V.
