SJC gold prices remained unchanged, while world gold prices plummeted right from the opening bell.

As of 2:00 PM on June 17 , 2024, the price of gold on the exchanges of several companies was as follows:

The SJC gold price, as listed by gold dealers, is 74.98 million VND/ounce for buying and 76.98 million VND/ounce for selling.

This afternoon, DOJI listed the price of 9999 gold at 74.98 million VND/ounce for buying and 76.98 million VND/ounce for selling.

Meanwhile, at Mi Hong Gold and Gemstone Company, the price of SJC gold listed at the time of the survey was 76.00 – 76.98 million VND/ounce (buying price – selling price).

At Bao Tin Minh Chau Co., Ltd., SJC gold is being traded at 75.50 – 76.98 million VND/ounce (buying price - selling price). Meanwhile, at Bao Tin Manh Hai, it is being traded at 76.000 – 76.98 million VND/ounce (buying price – selling price). The buying price of gold has increased by 200,000 VND/ounce.

At the beginning of the week, SJC gold bar prices at various gold brands remained unchanged on the selling side at 76.98 million VND/ounce. However, DOJI made a slight adjustment on the buying side today, increasing by 320,000 VND/ounce to 75.30 million VND.

Starting today (June 17th), the Agricultural and Rural Development Bank ( Agribank ) and the Vietnam Investment and Development Bank (BIDV) will launch an online registration service for purchasing SJC gold bars on their websites.

Online gold purchase registration on the Agribank website is available from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday to Friday. Payment and gold collection at Agribank's SJC gold bar sales points are available from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM on the day of successful registration.

Online registration for purchasing SJC gold bars at BIDV takes place from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Payment and gold collection via BIDV takes place from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM on the same day the registration is successfully completed.

Previously, on June 12th, Vietcombank became the first institution to sell gold bars online through its website.

Gold prices saw a slight increase at the beginning of the week, with 9999 gold rings rising by 50,000 VND per tael. Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) bought at 73.3 million VND and sold at 75 million VND; PNJ bought at 73.3 million VND and sold at 74.9 million VND per tael…

Currently, the price of gold rings is nearly 2 million VND/ounce lower than SJC gold bars, and at times, gold rings were even 10-11 million VND/ounce cheaper.

The central exchange rate listed by the State Bank of Vietnam is 24,259 VND/USD, an increase of 10 VND/USD. The USD price at commercial banks is trading around 25,221 VND/USD for buying and 25,471 VND/USD for selling.

World gold prices this afternoon, June 17 , 2024 , and the chart showing world gold price fluctuations over the past 24 hours.

According to Kitco, the spot price of gold in the world market at 2:00 PM Vietnam time today was $2,316.77 per ounce. This afternoon's price decreased by $15.24 per ounce compared to the closing price of the previous trading session. Converted using the current exchange rate at Vietcombank, the world gold price is approximately VND 70.2 million per tael (excluding taxes and fees). Therefore, the price of SJC gold bars is still VND 4.78 million per tael higher than the international gold price.

Gold price fluctuation chart over the past 24 hours

The spot price of gold in the global market stood at $2,316.77 per ounce, down more than $15 per ounce compared to the close of trading last week. The precious metal reversed its upward trend at the beginning of the week's trading session as the US dollar remained strong, with the US Dollar Index, which measures the dollar's fluctuations against a basket of other currencies, reaching 105.167 points.

Analysts believe precious metals are unlikely to experience a strong surge in the short term, as the market awaits new information this week regarding monetary policy meetings in several European countries. Gold prices fell after a strong recovery at the end of last week's trading session.

Gold price forecast

Although gold experienced a slight decline at the beginning of the week, according to Kitco News, most experts and retail investors remain optimistic about the precious metal's prospects this week.

Marc Chandler, managing director at Bannockburn Global Forex, said gold has ended a three-week losing streak, with the price of the precious metal being supported by political instability in Europe and sharply lower interest rates.

"Gold regained upward momentum following the US jobs data and the People's Bank of China's (PBoC) announcement on June 7th that it would halt its gold reserve purchases," Chandler said.
