Expensive airfares, domestic flights on September 2nd sharply decrease

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has just sent a report to the Ministry of Transport on the situation of air transport during the National Day on September 2. This year, the number of domestic passengers traveling by plane reached more than 356,000, down 5.6% compared to the same period last year in the context of expensive ticket prices.

According to Vietnam Aviation Administration, this year's holiday, transport air passengers reached no more than 763 thousand passengers, equal to 98% compared to the same period last year. Of which, international passenger transport reached more than 406,000 passengers, up 14.5%; domestic passenger transport reached more than 356,000 passengers, down 15.6%.

Passenger and cargo throughput at airports reached 7,000 take-offs and landings, down 13.4%; more than 1.1 million passengers, down 6.7%. Of which, throughput at Tan Son Nhat International Airport reached more than 2,500 take-offs and landings, approximately 407,000 passengers, down 7.4%. Noi Bai International Airport reached approximately 2,000 take-offs and landings, with 314,000 passengers, down 1.1%. Da Nang International Airport reached more than 900 take-offs and landings, with more than 111,000 passengers, down 13.3%.

During the National Day holiday, domestic airlines operated more than 2,700 flights, an average of nearly 700 flights/day.

Domestic air travel decreased significantly during the September 2 holiday this year.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam assesses that the security, safety, and service quality situation is maintained and guaranteed, serving well the aviation exploitation activities at airports and airfields nationwide.

Previously, according to a survey by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, airfare During the September 2nd holiday, flights on all routes increased sharply, about 20% compared to 1 week before the holiday and 40% compared to the average of the previous low season.

Specifically, the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route has Vietnam Airlines tickets ranging from 2.3 - 3.5 million VND/way, including meals, an increase of 23% - 28%; Vietjet Air has prices ranging from 1.5 - 2.4 million VND/way, an increase of 25%; Bamboo Airways has prices ranging from 1.7 - 2.5 million VND/way, an increase of 24%; Vietravel Airlines has about 1.7 million VND/way, an increase of 19% compared to the low season.

For the Hanoi - Da Nang route, Vietnam Airlines has a price of about 2.5 million VND/way, an increase of 40%; Vietjet offers a price of about 2.4 million VND/way, an increase of 60%; Bamboo Airways has a price of 2.2 million VND/way, an increase of 42%.

For the Hanoi - Nha Trang route, Vietnam Airlines has fares of around 2.5-3.2 million VND/way, equivalent to the previous period; Vietjet Air has fares of 2.6-3.5 million VND/way, an increase of about 33%; Bamboo Airways' fares are around 3.2 million VND/way, an increase of 14%.

On some other domestic tourist routes, ticket prices have also increased compared to before, such as the airfare for the Hanoi - Phu Quoc route ranges from 2.5 - 4 million VND/way, an increase of more than 60%; the Hanoi - Quy Nhon route costs about 2.4 million VND/way, an increase of 25%.
