Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament 2025: Da Nang Trade Union goes to Ho Chi Minh City to "play with all their might"

Among the 16 teams participating in the final round of the Vietnam Workers' and Civil Servants' Football Tournament 2025, Da Nang Trade Union is probably one of the teams facing the most challenges.

Overcoming the difficulties of geography, harsh weather and diversity of occupations, the Central football team is heading to Ho Chi Minh City not with the pressure of achievement, but with a spirit of exchange and enjoyment of the great festival of workers.

Training ground more than 100km away

Unlike many football teams whose forces are concentrated in one unit, Da Nang Trade Union is a multi-colored collective, gathering players from many different companies and industries. The core of the team is the water supply company employees, but besides that, there are also bank employees, hotel employees... This diversity creates a unique identity, but also comes with the difficult problem of concentration.

Mr. Pham Xuan Thanh (leader of the Da Nang Trade Union) shared: "The force is gathered from many units, so the nature of work and time of each person is very different. Moreover, the gathering place is in Quang Nam province (old), so for the brothers from Da Nang, it is a long way."

The most obvious example is the story of team captain Nguyen Mai Hoai Nam. He is currently a driver for TP Bank, working from Monday to Saturday. To prepare for the tournament, after every shift, he travels nearly 150km round trip to the training ground with his teammates.

"The main difficulty is the transportation. Besides me, there are 2-3 other brothers who are also living and working in Da Nang (old), such as Mr. Huynh Minh Chau, a hotel employee, who also has to travel a long distance. But having decided to participate in this playground, we all try our best," said team leader Hoai Nam.

Difficulties piled up on difficulties when in recent days, the Central region has suffered the effects of storms and prolonged heavy rains, causing the team's training plan to stagnate. "According to the schedule, after the qualifying round, the players will rest for a few days and then gather again. But due to the complicated weather, we still haven't had an official training session together," said Mr. Nam. The situation is so difficult that, according to Mr. Thanh, the team's general spirit is "to be established with 16 players, but when training, we will practice as many as we can."

Turn regret into motivation

Despite facing countless challenges, the spirit of the Han River football team has never wavered. Winning a ticket to the National Finals was a great joy and encouragement. This relaxed mindset has shaped the goal of the Da Nang Trade Union at the National Finals. Unlike many teams that focus on achievements, the Central team came to Ho Chi Minh City with the greatest desire to exchange, learn and enjoy a healthy playground.

"In the finals, Da Nang Trade Union will not focus on achievements, but on the spirit of fun. We do not set too high a goal like reaching the semi-finals or finals, we just need to try our best in each match," Mr. Thanh affirmed.

Regarding the travel plan, due to the nature of the work and limited time, the team will fly to Ho Chi Minh City on the morning of October 30 and in the afternoon of the same day will go to the field to get acquainted and prepare for the upcoming matches.

After the qualifying round, the team also changed when 4 players had to withdraw due to health and work reasons, 4 new factors were added. Although it was difficult to unite, but with the determination to overcome difficulties, it has been tempered. For Da Nang Trade Union, their journey at the final round this time will probably not be measured by the score, but by the will to overcome difficulties and the satisfied smile after each match.

The Vietnam Workers' and Civil Servants' Football Tournament is jointly organized by Tuoi Tre Newspaper , the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, and the Vietnam Football Federation for the third consecutive year. Entering the 2025 season, the tournament has affirmed its position as an annual, prestigious playground for workers, civil servants, and laborers across the country; contributing to promoting the movement of physical exercise and sports , improving the cultural and spiritual life of workers, civil servants, and laborers in particular and the whole society in general.

This year's tournament is honored to receive the support of Truong Hai Group Joint Stock Company (THACO), Dong Luc Sports Group, HTP Pharmaceutical Investment Joint Stock Company, Hoa Sen Group Joint Stock Company, Sunshine Group, Saigon Water Corporation (SAWACO), Fashion Connection Joint Stock Company (Faslink), 108 Central Military Hospital, 175 Military Hospital and a number of enterprises.

The final round of the Vietnam Workers' and Civil Servants' Football Tournament 2025 will take place from October 31 to November 2 in Ho Chi Minh City with the participation of 16 teams that have successfully passed the qualifying round.
