Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament 2025: Da Nang Trade Union goes to Ho Chi Minh City to "play with all their might"

Among the 16 teams participating in the final round of the Vietnam Workers' and Civil Servants' Football Tournament 2025, Da Nang Trade Union is probably one of the teams facing the most challenges.

Overcoming geographical challenges, harsh weather conditions, and the diversity of occupations, the team from Central Vietnam is heading to Ho Chi Minh City not with the pressure of achieving results, but with a spirit of camaraderie and enjoyment of this great festival for workers.

The training ground is over 100km away.

Unlike many teams with players concentrated in a single unit, the Da Nang Trade Union is a diverse group, bringing together players from various companies and industries. The core of the team consists of employees from the water supply company, but it also includes bank employees, hotel staff, and more. This diversity creates a unique identity, but also presents a challenge in terms of maintaining cohesion.

Mr. Pham Xuan Thanh (team leader of the Da Nang Trade Union) shared: "The workforce is assembled from many units, so the nature of the work and the time of each person are very different. Moreover, the gathering place is in the former Quang Nam province, so for the team members from Da Nang, it's a long journey."

The clearest example is the story of team captain Nguyen Mai Hoai Nam. He currently works as a driver for TP Bank, with a work schedule from Monday to Saturday. To prepare for the tournament, after each shift, he travels nearly 150km round trip to the training ground with his teammates.

"The main difficulty is transportation. Besides me, there are 2-3 other guys who also live and work in Da Nang (formerly), like Huynh Minh Chau, a hotel employee, who also has to travel a long distance. But since we've decided to participate in this competition, we're all trying our best," team captain Hoai Nam confided.

Difficulties are piling up as central Vietnam has been hit by storms and prolonged heavy rains in recent days, disrupting the team's training plans. "According to the schedule, after the qualifying rounds, the team was supposed to rest for a few days before regrouping. But due to the unpredictable weather, we haven't had a single official training session together yet," said Nam. The situation is so difficult that, according to Thanh, the team's general spirit is "we started with 16 players, but when it comes to training, we train with as many as we can."

Turn regret into motivation.

Despite facing numerous challenges, the spirit of the Da Nang team players never wavered. Qualifying for the national finals was already a great joy and encouragement. This relaxed mindset shaped the Da Nang Trade Union's goals at the national finals. Unlike many teams that prioritize results, the Central Vietnam team came to Ho Chi Minh City with the greatest desire to interact, learn, and enjoy a healthy playing environment.

"At the finals, the Da Nang Trade Union will not focus too much on achievements, prioritizing a fun atmosphere. We won't set overly high goals like reaching the semi-finals or finals; we just need everyone to try their best in each match," Mr. Thanh affirmed.

Regarding travel plans, due to the nature of the work and limited time, the team will fly to Ho Chi Minh City on the morning of October 30th and will immediately go to the stadium that same afternoon to familiarize themselves with the surroundings and prepare for the upcoming matches.

After the qualifying rounds, the team lineup also changed as 4 players had to withdraw due to health and work commitments, and 4 new players were added. Despite the difficulties in team cohesion, their determination to overcome challenges has been honed. For the Da Nang Trade Union, their journey in this final round will perhaps not be measured by the score, but by their willpower to overcome difficulties and the satisfied smiles after each match.

The Vietnam Workers and Employees Football Tournament, jointly organized by Tuoi Tre Newspaper , the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, and the Vietnam Football Federation, is now in its third consecutive year. Entering the 2025 season, the tournament has affirmed its position as a prestigious annual event for workers, employees, and laborers nationwide; contributing to promoting physical exercise and sports , and improving the cultural and spiritual lives of workers, employees, and laborers in particular, and society as a whole.

This year's tournament is honored to have the support of Truong Hai Group Joint Stock Company (THACO), Dong Luc Sports Group, HTP Pharmaceutical Investment Joint Stock Company, Hoa Sen Group Joint Stock Company, Sunshine Group, Saigon Water Supply Corporation (SAWACO), Faslink Joint Stock Company, Military Central Hospital 108, Military Hospital 175, and several other businesses.

The final round of the 2025 Vietnam Workers and Public Employees Football Tournament will take place from October 31st to November 2nd in Ho Chi Minh City, with the participation of 16 teams that successfully advanced from the qualifying rounds.
