According to Mr. Vu Duc Hao, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism: Today's students have the ability to access and use technology very quickly and creatively. However, if they are not properly oriented on life values and ethics, technology will become a "double-edged sword", easily leading to behavioral deviation and value crisis. Therefore, education on ethics, lifestyle, and skills to use technology safely and responsibly needs to be focused on. Not only in schools but also in families and the whole society. This is the foundation for students to develop comprehensively, becoming citizens with knowledge, personality and courage in the digital age.
With just a phone with an Internet connection, students can easily access a huge store of knowledge from all over the world . However, along with undeniable benefits, early and uncontrolled exposure to multidimensional cultural flows, including offensive and deviant content, can easily cause many students to fall into a state of disorientation. Many students become dependent on the virtual world, forming a passive lifestyle, far from reality, even showing deviant behaviors such as using non-standard language, bullying friends online, or being indifferent to community values.
Every year, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinates with the Department of Education and Training to organize a contest to learn about knowledge about moral education and lifestyle (Photo taken in Dai Tu district). |
Faced with this situation, the guiding role of family, school and society becomes extremely important. There needs to be close coordination between the parties in educating students on how to use digital technology safely and responsibly. In addition, building a positive learning environment, encouraging students to participate in practical activities and nurturing healthy living values are also essential solutions to help them develop comprehensively in the digital age.
Sharing about this, the Principal of Trung Vuong Primary School (Thai Nguyen City), teacher Nguyen Thanh Mai said: The school has over 1,000 students from grade 1 to grade 5. Through observation, we have noticed a clear change in the behavior, communication and conduct of students when they are exposed to a lot of technology devices. Therefore, in addition to teaching knowledge, we especially focus on educating life skills for students such as: Organizing experience sessions, inviting psychological experts to talk to students and parents. Teachers are not only the ones who impart knowledge but also have to be moral role models, the ones who inspire positivity through specific actions every day.

Talking to us, Mr. Hoang Thai Hop, Head of the Parents Association of Trung Vuong Primary School, said: Many parents are busy making a living, leading to leaving their children to the school. If parents do not take the time to listen and guide, it is easy for children to be negatively affected by the online environment... The close connection between family and school will contribute to building a comprehensive educational environment, helping students develop intellectually, emotionally and personally.
Only with the cooperation and shared responsibility from both sides can the negative impacts of technology be effectively controlled, and students can truly be equipped with a solid foundation to become responsible citizens. - Mr. Hoang Thai Hop
During an exchange with students of Trung Vuong Primary School, Professor, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Suu, Member of the Central Theoretical Council, Deputy Director of the Academy of Public Administration (Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics), emphasized: Digital transformation is inevitable and a trend of the times. But it is important that teachers and parents pay attention and guide their children to know how to use and exploit information appropriate to their age. For example, guiding them to fairy tales; stories about beloved Uncle Ho, behavioral skills with grandparents, parents, siblings, and friends. Only when technological knowledge and human values are harmoniously combined, will the digital transformation process be truly sustainable and bring long-term benefits to the country and the community.
Participating in sports, children can have fun, improve their physical strength, and stay away from video games. |
In fact, Thai Nguyen schools are using technology properly, simply through applications such as educational animated videos, online games with moral content, and life skills. These are forms that are close and easy to access for modern students, and at the same time help them form positive reflexes in distinguishing right from wrong, and recognizing the consequences of their behavior not only in real life but also in the online environment.
Educating students about ethics and lifestyle in the technology era is a long-term investment for the future. Only when ethics and technology go hand in hand can humans develop in a harmonious, sustainable and humane way in the 4.0 era.
