According to the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention, there are currently 7 most common forms of fraud, including: impersonatingeducational institutions; recovering suspended capital; paying for services; buying and selling online and traveling; impersonating officials; emotional fraud for financial gain; and investing on fake platforms.
The collaboration between Google and the Ministry of Public Security focuses on a carefully designed online communication campaign to promote a nationwide digital safety movement. With more than 200 YouTube creators registered to participate in the campaign message, sharing and integrating important information related to anti-fraud, combined with personal stories through interactive and engaging ways to share with millions of followers...
In addition, the campaign will also feature a series of eight one-minute educational videos featuring experts from Google and the Department of Cyber Security and Cybercrime Prevention. These videos will highlight the seven common forms of fraud mentioned above and provide viewers with useful tips and prevention tools.
“Google is well aware of the growing threat of online fraud and we are committed to leveraging our technology to address these alarming challenges. Google Play’s anti-fraud protection has blocked 4.5 million installations of suspected malicious apps on 1 million Android devices. The comprehensive partnership with the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention under the Ministry of Public Security is a testament to Google’s deep commitment to contributing to building a safer digital space for the people of Vietnam,” said Marc Woo, General Director of Google Vietnam.
According to the Ministry of Public Security, in 2024 alone, over 6,000 online fraud cases were detected, with losses of over VND12,000 billion. A recent survey also showed that 70% of people have received fraudulent calls or messages at least once a month, showing the urgent need to popularize cyber security knowledge.
“We appreciate the proactiveness, cooperation and thorough preparation of the units, as well as the proactive commitment from Google and content creators. This campaign demonstrates the autonomy, determination and responsible coordination between authorities, businesses and social organizations in protecting citizens in cyberspace and creating a safe and healthy digital environment,” said Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Ba Son, Deputy Director of the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention.
Through this cooperation, Google and the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention have demonstrated their efforts to prevent the wave of online fraud in Vietnam to contribute to building a strong and trustworthy digital future, where all Vietnamese citizens and businesses can safely exploit their full online potential.
