In the event of a potential shortage of medicines for the prevention and treatment of diseases that may arise after storms and floods, relevant units should promptly report to the Department of Health so that timely action can be taken.
For pharmaceutical businesses, it is necessary to proactively plan for inventory, prepare a ready supply of quality medicines, and ensure sufficient supply according to orders and contracts signed with medical facilities and for the healthcare needs of the people. This is especially important to ensure the availability of medicines for disease prevention and control, especially for potential outbreaks during the rainy season, storms, and floods; avoiding shortages and price fluctuations.
In case of difficulties or obstacles regarding supply, units should proactively report to the Drug Administration Department for guidance and resolution.
Previously, on June 17, 2024, the Department of Health also issued document No. 2663/SYT-NVD requesting units to ensure sufficient drug supplies to meet the requirements for emergency care, medical examination and treatment, disease prevention and control, and disaster relief.
It states that healthcare facilities should proactively develop plans for drug supply and prepare sufficient quantities for disease prevention, disaster relief, and other emergencies.
At the same time, regularly update the trends in disease patterns to serve the diagnosis and treatment of diseases at the facility, ensuring that there is no shortage of medicine for emergency care and treatment when natural disasters occur, especially diseases that may arise after storms, floods, etc. in the area.
Pharmaceutical businesses must prepare a supply of quality medicines at reasonable prices to prioritize providing sufficient and timely supplies to meet the needs of disease prevention and control, as well as disaster relief.
Regarding disease prevention and control, the Hanoi CDC continues to monitor active dengue fever outbreak areas and high-risk areas such as La Khe (Ha Dong), Dai Mo (Nam Tu Liem), Dong Phuong Yen (Chuong My), Phu Thuong (Tay Ho), and Hong Minh (Phu Xuyen).
District, county, and town health centers organize epidemiological investigations and promptly and thoroughly handle recorded cases and outbreaks, preventing the disease from spreading widely in the community.
Strengthen close monitoring and early detection of infectious disease patients in the community and at designated healthcare facilities to understand the disease situation, investigate and handle cases and outbreaks promptly.
Coordinate with the education and training sector to monitor and detect sick children, implement disease control activities, environmental sanitation, and disinfection in schools when there are patients or outbreaks.
Strengthen communication efforts and provide timely and comprehensive information on the disease situation and prevention and control measures for diseases such as dengue fever, measles, hand, foot and mouth disease, whooping cough, Japanese encephalitis, etc. For vaccine-preventable diseases, people are advised to proactively get vaccinated fully and on schedule according to the guidelines of the health sector.
