The student survey across Hanoi took place from March 21 to March 23 with the participation of more than 118,000 grade 12 students from high schools and vocationaleducation and continuing education centers in the city.
Students take 2 compulsory tests including Math, Literature and 2 elective subjects from the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography, Economic and Legal Education, Information Technology, Industrial Technology, Agricultural Technology, English.

Students will take the test according to the general questions developed by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training. In terms of format, the questions will comply with the regulations on the exam format structure of the high school graduation exam from 2025.
The matrix and structure of the exam closely follow the reference exam of the Ministry of Education and Training with 3 levels: recognition (40%), understanding (30%), application (30%); ensuring the requirements to be achieved and differentiating competencies according to requirements. The exam content is accurate, scientific and especially closely follows the professional requirements in teaching and developing competencies, requiring students to apply knowledge to solve practical problems.
According to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, nearly 120,000 11th graders participated in the survey (accounting for 98.8%); for 12th graders, the number of candidates taking the test was nearly 465,000 (accounting for 98.54%).
After completing the marking work, the Department of Education and Training assessed that the results of the city-wide quality survey this year were lower than last year.
For grade 12, the number of exams with absolute scores is low; scores above 8 account for 7.73%; scores from 5 to 7 account for the most at 54.78%; the percentage of exams with scores below average (below 5) is still quite high, accounting for nearly 32%.
Based on the survey results, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training requires units and schools to strictly implement the Department's instructions on organizing high school graduation exam review for students. Schools need to focus on reviewing and classifying student levels to develop review and training plans suitable to the unit's educational plan. In particular, it is necessary to pay attention to ensuring knowledge coverage of review topics in each subject according to the instructions.
In addition, professional groups and teams need to focus on guiding students to practice skills in solving True-False questions according to each topic in the 12th grade program. Teachers also need to improve the quality of question compilation, ensuring that the level of thinking is gradually increased.
Some teachers in Hanoi said that the score distribution from the quality survey of 11th and 12th grade students clearly reflected the differentiation in levels, thereby clarifying the test results of groups of good, excellent, average and weak students.
In general, besides the number of students with good academic performance in all subjects, there are still a number of weak students, at risk of failing graduation, who need more attention and support in reviewing.
Through the results of the tests and surveys, schools and teachers can initially determine the quality of education of the school and class; at the same time, help 12th grade students get acquainted with the high school graduation exam, and orient themselves properly to their own abilities and strengths.
