According to the confirmation of the Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning Center - Institute of Earth Sciences , at 23:26:19 (Hanoi time) on November 12, an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.8 on the Richter scale occurred at coordinates 20.373 degrees North latitude - 104.572 degrees East longitude, with a focal depth of about 10km.

The epicenter was identified in Houaphan province (Laos) - about 5km from the Vietnam border in Na Meo commune, Quan Son district, Thanh Hoa province. The specialized agency assessed the natural disaster risk level as level 1.
A representative of the Institute of Earth Sciences said that the monitoring system is still continuing to monitor the aftershocks and their impact, and noted that the earthquake was only mild and did not cause damage.
