Transport infrastructure is a key driver for sustainable growth

Transport infrastructure plays a key role in connecting Lam Dong with major economic centers both domestically and internationally. Clearly identifying this, in the 2025 - 2030 period, Lam Dong province aims to implement a series of large-scale transport projects on roads, railways, airways and waterways. These projects are expected to contribute to creating an important driving force to promote production and attract investment for sustainable economic development in the 2025 - 2030 period and the following years.

"Unlocking" potential with a series of transport infrastructure

Lam Dong is focusing investment resources to develop a multimodal transport system, creating a "backbone" connecting the province with key economic zones. In particular, roads are identified as the main force and the breakthrough. The whole province has more than 20,000 km of roads, but only about 180 km of expressways and 10 national highways with a total length of nearly 1,500 km. To meet development needs, upgrading and building new roads is extremely urgent.

Therefore, the province is continuing to promote the completion of routes under investment and construction and at the same time planning to allocate medium-term public investment capital for the period 2026 - 2030 for many new traffic projects. In particular, the province is promoting procedures for key expressway projects such as Tan Phu - Lien Khuong, Nha Trang - Lien Khuong, Lien Khuong - Buon Ma Thuot and Gia Nghia - Bao Loc - Phan Thiet... to call for investment. These expressways are expected to form a "backbone" of traffic, connecting Lam Dong with the Southeast provinces, the South Central Coast and the Central Highlands.

In addition, the upgrading of national highways 20, 27, 28, inter-district roads, dynamic roads and some roads in urban areas will also be prioritized, helping to clear the traffic "blood vessels", creating favorable conditions for the transportation of goods and travel of people. The province will also deploy connecting roads from the highway and high-speed railway to the center of the old Phan Thiet city.

The Thap Cham - Da Lat railway, a unique project bearing a strong historical mark from the 1930s, has been suspended for a long time. Currently, Lam Dong is calling for investment to "revive" this railway, not only to turn it into a unique tourism product but also to have the ambition to have another railway connecting the Lam Vien plateau with the North - South railway.

In addition, the national high-speed railway line passing through the southeastern region of the province is also urgently carrying out related tasks to hand over the land, contributing to promoting the railway line to become a reality soon. This line, when completed, will also play an important role in connecting Lam Dong with other provinces, promoting economic development and tourism.

Lien Khuong Airport, Lam Dong's important aviation gateway, is being specifically planned to be upgraded to a 4E-class international airport. This project will not only help enhance Lam Dong's connectivity with major domestic and international cities, but also create favorable conditions for attracting investment and expanding tourism development. The province is also coordinating to implement this project in the most effective way. In addition, calling for investment in projects related to Phan Thiet Airport to soon put the airport into operation will also contribute to reducing the load on Lien Khuong Airport, while creating more options for tourists when coming to Lam Dong.

Mobilizing diverse sources of capital

The formation of expressways, national highways, provincial roads... and other forms of air, rail and waterway transport will help Lam Dong connect more closely with other provinces, creating a dynamic and competitive economic region. This will help the province attract investment, expand markets, and develop industries and services.

Several expressways are expected to be started and completed in the coming period.

In addition to major projects, Lam Dong also focuses on developing rural transport infrastructure, ensuring that all communes have solid roads to help improve the lives of people in remote areas, creating favorable conditions for agricultural economic development. In addition, it also helps people easily access health, education and cultural services.

This transport infrastructure development plan requires a large amount of investment and great efforts. With high determination, Lam Dong is gradually organizing investment promotion activities, mobilizing diverse capital sources from the state budget, ODA capital, FDI capital and socialized capital to implement the projects.

With great efforts and determination, Lam Dong is gradually realizing the dream of becoming a fairly developed province and an economic, cultural and tourist center of the Central Highlands region and the whole country.
