Transport infrastructure is a key driver for sustainable growth

Transportation infrastructure plays a crucial role in connecting Lam Dong province with major economic centers both domestically and internationally. Recognizing this, Lam Dong province aims to implement a series of large-scale transportation projects in the 2025-2030 period, encompassing roads, railways, air transport, and waterways. These projects are expected to significantly boost production, attract investment, and promote sustainable economic development in the 2025-2030 period and beyond.

"Unlocking" potential through a series of transportation infrastructure projects.

Lam Dong province is focusing its investment resources on developing a multimodal transportation system, creating a "backbone" connecting the province with key economic regions. Road transport is identified as the main driver and a key breakthrough. The province has over 20,000 km of roads, but only about 180 km are expressways and 10 national highways with a total length of nearly 1,500 km. To meet development needs, upgrading and constructing new road networks is extremely urgent.

Therefore, the province is continuing to promote the completion of ongoing investment and construction projects, while simultaneously planning to allocate medium-term public investment capital for the 2026-2030 period to many new transportation projects. In particular, key expressway projects such as Tan Phu - Lien Khuong, Nha Trang - Lien Khuong, Lien Khuong - Buon Ma Thuot, and Gia Nghia - Bao Loc - Phan Thiet... are being expedited by the province to attract investment. These expressways are expected to form the "backbone" of transportation, connecting Lam Dong with provinces in the Southeast, South Central Coast, and Central Highlands regions.

In addition, upgrading national highways 20, 27, and 28, inter-district roads, key transportation routes, and some roads in urban areas will be prioritized, helping to open up transportation "arteries," creating favorable conditions for the transportation of goods and the travel of people. The province will also implement a connecting road from the expressway and high-speed railway to the old Phan Thiet city center.

The Thap Cham - Da Lat railway line, a unique structure steeped in history from the 1930s, has been out of operation for a long time. Currently, Lam Dong province is calling for investment to "revive" this railway line, not only to transform it into a unique tourism product but also to fulfill the ambition of having another railway line connecting the Lam Vien plateau region with the North-South railway.

In addition, the national high-speed railway line passing through the southeastern region of the province is also undergoing urgent work to hand over the land, contributing to the early realization of the railway line. When completed, this line will also play an important role in connecting Lam Dong with other provinces, promoting economic and tourism development.

Lien Khuong Airport, a crucial air gateway for Lam Dong province, is being planned for an upgrade to a 4E-class international airport. This project will not only enhance Lam Dong's connectivity with major domestic and international cities but also facilitate investment attraction and tourism development. The province is coordinating the implementation of this project effectively. Furthermore, attracting investment in projects related to Phan Thiet Airport to bring it into operation sooner will help alleviate congestion at Lien Khuong Airport and provide more options for tourists visiting Lam Dong.

Mobilizing diverse sources of capital

The development of expressways, national highways, provincial roads, and various modes of air, rail, and water transport will help Lam Dong connect more closely with other provinces, creating a dynamic and competitive economic region. This will help the province attract investment, expand markets, and develop industries and services.

Besides major projects, Lam Dong also focuses on developing rural transportation infrastructure, ensuring that all communes have paved roads to help improve the lives of people in remote areas and create favorable conditions for the development of agricultural economy. In addition, it also helps people easily access healthcare, education, and cultural services.

This transportation infrastructure development plan requires a significant investment and considerable effort. With strong determination, Lam Dong province is gradually organizing activities to promote investment, mobilizing diverse sources of capital from the state budget, ODA, FDI, and socialized capital to implement the projects.

With great effort and determination, Lam Dong is gradually realizing its dream of becoming a relatively developed province and a center of economy, culture, and tourism for the Central Highlands region and the whole country.
