Appearing on the homepage of the Paris 2024 Olympics, pho and traditional spring rolls are two Vietnamese dishes included in the nutritional menu for athletes participating in the biggest sporting event on the planet.
Notably, in the "Soup of the day" section of the Asian booth, pho was served in the athletes' three main meals.
In the introduction, the Paris 2024 Olympic Organizing Committee affectionately called pho "Vietnam's culinary monument", made from bone broth and pho noodles, accompanied by many other ingredients.
Besides, there is other information, such as this Vietnamese dish is rich in Carbohydrate (starch, sugar and fiber), providing enough energy for athletes during competition.
Spring rolls are also included in Asian menus, with the introduction that this is "Vietnamese Culinary". This dish has ingredients including: thin rice paper (made from rice flour), vegetables, vermicelli and sometimes pork, chicken or boiled shrimp...
In terms of nutritional information, spring rolls are described as high in starch and fiber, making them suitable for vegetarians.
The fact that host country France has included pho and spring rolls in the menu of the 2024 Paris Olympics is an opportunity to promote traditional Vietnamese cuisine to a wide range of international friends.
This is not the first time Vietnamese dishes have appeared on the menu for athletes at the Olympics. Previously, at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Vietnamese pho was also served to guests and athletes.
However, the host country has made some small changes, replacing the beef with the country's signature Wagyu beef. Or before that, in 2016, at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in Brazil, athletes enjoyed stir-fried pho.
