The statement on April 19 stated that this stance "has isolated the US government and the Israeli government from the international community that has always supported the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people." Hamas strongly condemned the US's stance in support of Israel and called on the international community to continue to put pressure on the US to support the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

The statement reiterated that the Palestinian people will continue to fight and resist until the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state. The statement also expressed appreciation to the countries that stood by the just cause of the Palestinian people and voted for Palestine to become a full member of the United Nations.

On the afternoon of April 18 local time, the United Nations Security Council voted on a draft resolution on Palestine's full status at the United Nations, submitted by Algeria. Due to the objection of the United States, a permanent member of the Security Council, the draft resolution was vetoed by one vote. In this vote, there were 12 votes in favor, 2 abstentions from the United Kingdom and Switzerland, and 1 vote against from the United States.
