Premium Economy Class is a seat that falls between Premium and Economy Class. Depending on the route, the airline may or may not offer this class. On the plane, Premium Economy Class has a seat design with more space than Economy Class and many other priority services. In 2024, Vietnam Airlines won the AirlineRatings' Most Valuable Premium Economy Class award.
"In a tight race, Vietnam Airlines won this award by consistently offering a high-quality, high-value premium economy product on its medium and long-haul aircraft without the hefty price tag. This means travelers have the option to enjoy more space and priority without having to pay the premium economy prices offered by airlines such as Air New Zealand and Emirates. The airline also has a modern fleet with an average age of just 8.9 years," AirlineRatings said.
With Vietnam Airlines' premium economy class, passengers are given priority to check-in and check-in their luggage at the business class check-in counter; priority to board and disembark the plane and luggage; wide seats, comfortable reclining backs and airy legroom; provided with personal hygiene kits including slippers, light-blocking eye masks, noise-blocking earplugs, toothpaste, moisturizing cosmetics, blankets and pillows, etc.
AirlineRatings did a comparison between two similar airlines on the same route with the same premium economy class, with Vietnam Airlines flying Ho Chi Minh City - San Francisco from October 16 to 23, 2024 and with Air New Zealand, Auckland to Vancouver, Canada from October 15 to 22, 2024.
The Air New Zealand flight cost $2,968 and the Vietnam Airlines flight cost $2,372. That's a huge difference of $596. Vietnam Airlines has a much lower price and that probably gives passengers a better sense of value.
AirlineRatings also awarded other awards such as best business class for Qatar Airways, best first class for Singapore Airlines...
