The atmosphere at the Vam Nhut Tao historical relic site these days has become more solemn as a large number of visitors from all over the country come to offer incense to commemorate the national hero Nguyen Trung Truc. Up to now, the relic site has welcomed about 400,000 visitors to attend the death anniversary ceremony, showing the deep gratitude of the people to the indomitable hero of the nation.

Mr. Le Thanh Tung, Cai Von ward, Vinh Long province, shared: “Every year, on the anniversary of Mr. Nguyen's death, I and a group from Vinh Long come here to burn incense in memory. This trip, the group has about 100 people. First of all, it is to pay respect to the hero who protected the homeland. As descendants, we follow the tradition of coming to burn incense in memory. This year, I see it is completely different, security and order are guaranteed, the organization is neat, clean and more thoughtful.”

Free drinks are served at the memorial service.

Not only did people come to offer incense, but many people also volunteered to serve the memorial service. They came early, prepared free food and drinks, and supported visitors, contributing to creating a warm, meaningful and humane festival.

Ms. Tran Thi Tuyet Nhung, Hoa Lac commune, An Giang province, shared: “I came here on the 9th, first to visit the old man, then to help serve water, coffee, and sweet tea to pilgrims to quench their thirst during the holiday. Although I am also busy at home, I arranged my work to come here to serve people during the holidays.”

Crowds of people enjoyed a vegetarian feast at the death anniversary ceremony.
