Hanoi prepares for a spectacular countdown 2026 at Hoan Kiem Lake

Hanoi is gearing up to welcome the New Year with a grand celebration as the Hanoi People's Committee officially announces the Countdown 2026 program.

This exciting event will take place from 7PM to midnight on December 31 at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square and throughout the vibrant Hoan Kiem Lake pedestrian area.

The Countdown Party is considered the greatest “music feast” of the year with superb performances.

Designed to create a joyful festive atmosphere for residents and visitors, the program aims to showcase Hanoi as a modern, culturally rich, and welcoming destination. It also promises to enhance the appeal of the Hoan Kiem pedestrian streets, already a beloved symbol of the capital. This year's theme, “Countdown 2026 – Opening Real Connections” highlights the city's spirit of innovation and community. The event will be funded entirely by social contributions, demonstrating strong public support.

The Department of Culture and Sports will work closely with Song Trang Media JSC (ST Group) to organize the lantern. They will oversee all program activities, manage promotional materials, and ensure that visual elements, from banners and billboards to LED screens, are presented in a unified and attractive way. Media coordination will also be strengthened to highlight Hanoi's global image and provide clear information for follow-up.

To support the citywide celebration, the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department has been tasked with guiding press agencies to expand coverage of the event. Meanwhile, the Department of Tourism will collaborate with local businesses to promote Countdown 2026 to travelers, ensuring high-quality tourism services in accommodation, dining, shopping, and entertainment.

Hoan Kiem District authorities will implement detailed plans to maintain security, traffic flow, fire safety, medical readiness, environmental cleanliness, and urban beautification before, during, and after the event to ensure a smooth and memorable New Year celebration for all.

With music, lights, and the energy of thousands gathering at the heart of the capital, Hanoi's Countdown 2026 promises to be an unforgettable way to welcome the New Year.
