According to information from the Bao Thang District Forest Protection Department, on May 15th, the unit received two monkeys from local residents. This species is listed in the Vietnam Red Book and needs to be protected.
On May 15th, Mr. Truong Van Dao, residing in Vang village, Xuan Giao commune, Bao Thang district, Lao Cai province, discovered two monkeys in his family's garden. He captured them and handed them over to the Bao Thang District Forest Protection Department. The monkeys were identified as Macacamulatta, with the female weighing 4 kg and the male weighing 5 kg. This species is a rare and endangered forest animal listed in Appendix IIB of Government Decree No. 32/2006/ND-CP on the management of endangered and rare forest plants and animals.


Immediately afterwards, the Bao Thang District Forest Management Unit coordinated with the Hoang Lien Wildlife Rescue, Conservation and Development Center to complete the procedures and hand over the animals to the Center for care and conservation in accordance with the law.
