Santa Clara County surpasses Orange County in the percentage of Vietnamese restaurants in the US.

According to The Mercury News , the survey was conducted to count the number of Asian restaurants open in the US in March 2023. The results showed that Vietnamese restaurants accounted for 6% of all restaurants in Santa Clara County, compared to 5% in Orange County. In terms of Vietnamese population, Santa Clara County ranked second in the US, with 120,000 Vietnamese living, compared to 180,000 in Orange County. The total population of Santa Clara County in 2020 was nearly 2 million people.

Vietnamese food is popular in many places.

Little Saigon in San Jose, Santa Clara County (different from Little Saigon in Westminster and Garden Grove, Orange County) has long been a must-visit destination for many Vietnamese food lovers. The report also shows that about 30% of restaurants in Santa Clara County serve dishes originating from this geographic area, from Chinese, Pakistani to Filipino.

Including Silicon Valley, Santa Clara County is the world’s high-tech economic center. In 2015, Santa Clara County had the third-highest GDP per capita in the world, behind only Zurich (Switzerland) and Oslo (Norway), according to the Brookings Institution (headquartered in Washington, DC, USA).
