On February 13, General Secretary of the Vietnam Cycling and Motorcycling Federation - Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu confirmed the information that a Vietnamese athlete had an accident at the 2025 Asian Cycling Championship.

Accordingly, the Vietnamese cycling team participated in many events, including the start-up event for the young men's team. The route was 117.7 km long and had 4 Vietnamese athletes including Nguyen Dan Binh, Phung Quoc Ha, Dang Van Phap, and Pham Anh Hao. Unfortunately, Dan Binh collided with some opponents and fell off his bike. He suffered shoulder and ankle injuries and had to be hospitalized urgently.

In addition, Nguyen Dan Binh's car had a broken side and the Vietnamese team will have to compensate the Organizing Committee, because this was a borrowed car.

The 2025 Asian Cycling Championship did not bring much luck to Vietnamese cyclists. The Vietnamese cycling team arrived in Thailand on February 5. However, about 30 specialized racing bikes of the Vietnamese cycling team burned down on the way to the competition venue. Up to this point, the exact cause of the fire has not been announced. To ensure the tournament takes place normally, competition and training equipment was provided by the host country, Thailand, to the Vietnamese team.

Returning to the event where the Vietnamese athlete had an accident, the group of young cyclists could not achieve the desired results. The one with the best result among the 4 young riders of the Vietnamese team was Dang Van Phap. In the final results, Yip Hon Man (Hong Kong - China) won the gold medal, Mirbagheri (Iran) won the silver medal and Sakuntae Thanapat (Thailand) won the bronze medal in this event.

Despite the difficulties caused by the bike fire, the Vietnamese cycling team still achieved good results. Hai Nam (individual time trial for men over 60) and Ton Hoang Khanh Lan (mass start for women) won gold medals.
