On the afternoon of August 17, Becamex Ho Chi Minh City Club had a trip to Pleiku Stadium to play against the home team Hoang Anh Gia Lai . On this occasion, Coach Nguyen Anh Duc decided to have 2 foreign strikers registered to play.
First is Origbaajo Ismaila, born in 1998 in Nigeria. This player played in J3 League with Sagamihara, J2 League with Tochigi FC and J1 League with Kyoto Sanga.
Previously, Ismaila played football in Moldova for Sheriff Club in the 2022-2023 season and won the Moldovan Super Cup and the National Cup. In the J2 League, he helped Kyoto Sanga get promoted in 2021.
At 27, Ismaila is in the prime of his career. His contribution is experience and courage. If he integrates well, Ismaila may make people forget Tien Linh soon.
Coach Nguyen Anh Duc's second foreign striker signing is Ugochukwu Oduenyi. He is a player of Quang Nam Club in the 2024-2025 season and has contributed 3 goals to the team.
After Quang Nam FC did not participate in the 2025-2026 V-League, Oduenyi went to Binh Duong for a trial. At least he has the advantage of being familiar with the playing style in Vietnam after 13 matches.
This will be a safe solution for Becamex TP.HCM to keep an old striker, while also bringing in a completely new rookie like Ismaila. Both will have the opportunity to combine at Binh Duong Stadium.
Will coach Nguyen Anh Duc have time to introduce the duo Ismaila - Oduenyi in the opening match against Hoang Anh Gia Lai at 5:00 p.m. this afternoon, August 17 in Pleiku?
According to the tournament rules, each club is allowed to register 4 foreign players but only 3 can play. The 4 foreign players of Becamex TP.HCM Club are Ismaila, Oduenyi, Ferreira Miguel and Zlatkovic Milos.
