Former MU star is not good enough to play in lower leagues

Defender Brandon Williams' career has continued to struggle since leaving Old Trafford.

Brandon Williams' career has been on the decline since leaving MU.

Having joined Hull City in August hoping to start afresh, the 25-year-old defender is now facing the prospect of having to say goodbye early. Manager Sergej Jakirovic has publicly admitted that the club are considering letting him leave in the January 2026 transfer window.

"He has shown some things in the academy games, but I'm not sure they're enough for the Championship," Jakirovic said bluntly. "We'll have to decide whether to keep him or let him find opportunities elsewhere."

Coach Jakirovic concluded with a definitive message: "I cannot say that Williams is better than when he first arrived. The Championship requires a much higher level."

Since the start of the season, Williams has only played 5 minutes for the first team when coming on as a substitute in the 3rd round of the Championship. After that, he was continuously dropped from the list. The former young MU star was on the bench 4 times and was not allowed to play and was removed from the registration list for 11 matches.

The Carrington academy graduate was expected to make 50 appearances for United under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but his career quickly went downhill after a car accident that saw him receive a 14-month suspended prison sentence, a three-year driving ban and community service.

Leaving MU, Williams drifted with a loan contract at Norwich and then Ipswich but did not leave an impression. A year without a club meant he could only sign a short-term contract with Hull and now he is at risk of unemployment.
