On December 4, Wolves suffered a 0-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest at Molineux Stadium. This was also the 8th consecutive defeat of the "Wolves" in all competitions. The poor performance caused coach Rob Edwards and his team to rank bottom of the Premier League table with only 2 points after 14 rounds, without winning a single match.

During this disappointing streak, Hwang has also been without a goal. He has played 10 Premier League games since the start of the season but has only scored 1 goal. In the League Cup, the Korean international has played 3 times but has only contributed 1 assist.

During the summer transfer window, Hwang considered leaving Wolves to get more playing time. Crystal Palace approached him but the deal fell through. The striker also refused to leave England despite interest from many lower league clubs and some Ligue 1 teams.

Hwang had a brilliant 2023/24 season for Wolves, even becoming the club's top scorer with 12 goals in 29 Premier League matches. However, since the 2024/25 season, the Korean striker has often been on the bench and has played poorly when given the chance.

Once expected to follow in Son Heung-min's footsteps to shine in the land of fog, Hwang has gradually faded into obscurity. If Wolves cannot escape the risk of relegation, the 28-year-old striker may face the dire prospect of having to play in the Championship.

Two goals in the Chelsea - Arsenal match. Early morning of December 1, Chelsea and Arsenal drew 1-1 in a dramatic match in round 13 of the Premier League 2025/26.
