Coach Amorim has a grudge against Mainoo?

Many MU fans feel confused when Kobbie Mainoo is always kept on the bench even though the team's midfield plays extremely poorly, especially in the draw with West Ham.

Mainoo is ready to leave MU in the January 2026 transfer window

In round 14 of the Premier League on the morning of December 5, midfielder Manuel Ugarte left a disappointing performance in MU's 1-1 draw against West Ham.

In the 77th minute at Old Trafford, coach Ruben Amorim sent Ugarte on to replace Matheus Cunha when MU was leading West Ham 1-0. But in the 84th minute, West Ham's Soungoutou Magassa put the ball into Senne Lammens' net, bringing home a valuable point.

Many fans believe that Ugarte's appearance caused MU to lose control and concede a draw. Former England midfielder Martin Keown found it difficult to understand why Amorim continued to trust Ugarte instead of Mainoo. Keown believes that there is a deeper reason why Amorim did not value the young English talent.

Not only fans, former player Gary Neville on Sky Sports also questioned Amorim's decision to make a substitution. He said: "Leading 1-0 and letting the game go like that is very dangerous. Amorim's changes were aimed at keeping the score but were counterproductive. Mainoo coming on was more suitable."

The British media also questioned whether Mainoo had done something to displease Amorim. "How in the world could a manager leave Mainoo on the bench for 90 minutes, with Ugarte coming on to replace Cunha and play alongside Casemiro? Sorry, but Amorim clearly has a problem with Mainoo, and United should let him go on loan in January because this doesn't make any sense," commented former Newcastle star Joey Barton.

Fans believe that Amorim is having personal issues with Mainoo, who was a mainstay under Ten Hag.

U22 Vietnam striker: The team played well but finished poorly. During the training session on the afternoon of December 4, striker Nguyen Quoc Viet affirmed that the U22 Vietnam team will improve their finishing ability when facing U22 Malaysia.
