According to LINE, SEA Games subsidies for Thai teams are a persistent issue, as many federations have yet to release money to athletes, despite the National Sports Development Fund's board meeting approving it and Deputy Prime Minister Thammanat Prompao requesting action last week.

Recently, Mr. Boonsong Nuanyong, manager of the Muay Thai team participating in the 33rd SEA Games, revealed that "athletes are training with a desperate and depressed mood while waiting for the allowance for more than three months." He also said that "some people even shed tears while training because they do not know how much longer they will have to wait."

"Athletes and their parents have repeatedly asked me how long they have to wait. All the documents have been submitted to the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) and I don't understand why the process is so complicated," LINE quoted Mr. Boonsong Nuanyong as saying. "Why hasn't the allowance for the athletes been paid as promised? Not only that, the allowance for the Asian Youth Games has not been paid yet, even though the tournament ended a long time ago.

The athletes are training in a frustrated mood. I hope SAT will take care of the athletes. They have devoted themselves to the country but now they have to face this. If it were you, how would you feel if you did not receive your salary for three months?

Meanwhile, on the opening day of the "International Broadcasting Center and Media Coordination Center serving the 33rd SEA Games" (December 1), Dr. Kongsak Yodmanee - Director of SAT affirmed that "SAT has provided comprehensive support to Thai athletes participating in the SEA Games", thanks to which "all are 100% physically ready, much better than previous games".
