The second training session of the Vietnamese women's team in Thailand took place in hot weather and high temperatures, forcing the players to find every way to protect their bodies.
To cope, each person chooses their own way to protect themselves from the sun. Many players apply sunscreen carefully before going out on the field. Some others use gloves to limit sunburn. In particular, captain Huynh Nhu attracted attention with the image of taking her bib and putting it directly on her head to block the sun, a funny but effective way, making the atmosphere on the field more cheerful.
Simple items such as scarves, hats, bibs or even jackets become temporary “shields” for the players against the hot weather. On the sidelines, coaching staff members prepare large water bottles and constantly remind players to replenish water after each practice session. Staying hydrated and having enough electrolytes is considered a top priority during days of high training intensity and extreme temperatures.
Despite the heat, the team spirit was still very comfortable. The players laughed and talked while performing coordination exercises, sometimes teasing each other with their own “sun protection tools”. The proactive adaptation of the Vietnamese women’s team partly reflects their extensive experience participating in major tournaments in harsh weather conditions.
The team still has one more training session before the opening match against Malaysia on the evening of December 5. With an optimistic spirit and the ability to adapt quickly, the Vietnamese women's team shows that they are ready both physically and mentally to aim for the goal of defending the SEA Games gold medal.
