Coach Tran Minh Chien leads U17 Vietnam to compete in U17 Southeast Asia

The Vietnam Football Federation announced that coach Tran Minh Chien will take charge of the Vietnam U17 team in the 2024 Southeast Asian U17 tournament. Mr. Chien's coaching staff also includes 9 assistants and doctors.

Coach Tran Minh Chien is a former national team player. When he returned to coaching, he led the teams Binh Duong, Ba Ria Vung Tau and Ho Chi Minh City Club. Last year, he signed a contract to be the Technical Director for Kon Tum Club.

Mr. Tran Minh Chien is a colleague of Coach Hoang Anh Tuan in the U17, U20 and U23 Vietnam teams. Last year at the 2023 U17 Asian Cup, Mr. Chien played the role of assistant.

Coach Tran Minh Chien is highly regarded for his expertise and his "good hand" with young players. He worked for many years at the PVF Youth Football Training Center.

Vietnam U17 will start the first training phase of 2024 on April 11 at PVF Youth Football Training Center. After 7 days of training, the team will enter the second training phase at the Vietnam Football Training Center for 8 days.

Coach Tran Minh Chien called up 36 players for this training session. He and the coaching staff have about half a month to check and evaluate the players before selecting them for the next training sessions.

In this training session, Song Lam Nghe An Club contributed the most players with 5 people. The Cong Viettel , Ha Tinh, Phu Dong Ninh Binh, Da Nang, Ba Ria Vung Tau ranked behind with each team contributing 4 players.

It is expected that U17 Vietnam will gather again in May. The 2024 Southeast Asian U17 Championship will take place in June in Indonesia.
