Hoa Lu spreads the voluntary blood donation movement from exemplary individuals and families

Currently, voluntary blood donation in Hoa Lu district has become a vibrant and meaningful activity, with many exemplary individuals and families contributing to "igniting" the voluntary blood donation movement of the province.

Ms. Tran Thi My Ngoc, a teacher at Truong Yen Commune Kindergarten, has participated in blood donation 15 times. Sharing about this meaningful act, Ms. Ngoc said that through mass media, especially her work in education and caring for children, she realized the need to be a role model for children in charitable work for the community. Therefore, she regularly participates in blood donation 2-3 times a year, depending on her blood needs and health.

"Almost a decade ago, realizing that blood donation was a meaningful act that benefited many people, I encouraged my relatives, friends, and colleagues to participate. In my family, my husband and two children have also donated blood many times. My colleagues at Truong Yen Kindergarten also actively participate, consistently meeting and exceeding the assigned targets every year... I feel happy to be able to contribute to useful and meaningful actions that spread throughout society..." - said Ms. My Ngoc.

For Ms. Lam Thi Thuong from La Mai village, Ninh Giang commune, who has participated in blood donation 23 times, this meaningful act stems from her work selling vegetarian food. Ms. Thuong said that she always believes that each person only lives once, so they should live as meaningfully as possible by doing as much humanitarian and charitable work as possible for the community and society.

"Therefore, after each blood donation, I usually don't pay attention to keeping the documents acknowledging my participation. But for over a decade now, I've regularly participated in blood donation, once or twice a year, donating 300-350ml of blood each time. I feel happy and reassured knowing that after donating blood, I remain healthy, full of vitality, and joyful to do the work I love. For me, as long as I'm healthy and within my age range, I will continue to participate in blood donation..." - Ms. Lam Thi Thuong affirmed.

During the Hoa Lu District Blood Donation Campaign Steering Committee's 2023 blood donation program themed "Every drop of blood given saves a life" in late July 2023, Ms. Hoang Thi Lan, Head of the Women's Association of Dong Quan village, Ninh Van commune, mobilized more than 40 people in the village and commune to participate, far exceeding the assigned target.

Previously, Ms. Hoang Thi Lan's family was commended by the Ninh Binh Provincial Steering Committee for Blood Donation, receiving the title of "Outstanding Blood Donation Family of 2023." Ms. Lan herself has donated blood 12 times, while her sons, daughters, and son-in-law have also actively participated many times. With a total of 28 blood donations from the five family members, they met the criteria for being an outstanding blood donation family in the province.

Ms. Hoang Thi Lan said: "As a women's association branch official, I recognize the significance and necessity of donating blood. Therefore, during the awareness campaigns and mobilization efforts, I always incorporate blood donation into my activities. Furthermore, I myself have donated blood dozens of times and remain healthy, serving as vivid evidence to inspire women in the village to trust and follow suit... This has spread to many families, with both husband and wife registering to participate."

Mr. Nguyen Giang Nam, Chairman of the Hoa Lu District Red Cross Society and Deputy Head of the Hoa Lu District Blood Donation Campaign Steering Committee, said: In recent years, the blood donation movement in the district has developed and spread increasingly widely among all strata of the population. Many exemplary individuals and families have emerged, with many generations actively participating in the movement, donating blood dozens of times.

"We believe that blood donation is not just about saving the lives of patients today, but more broadly and meaningfully, it's about spreading and sowing more 'seeds' of compassion and sharing in society. Therefore, along with propaganda and mobilization efforts, the Red Cross at all levels has mobilized and established blood donation clubs and groups with enthusiastic and responsible volunteers, operating sustainably and ready to donate blood in emergencies when patients and medical facilities need blood..." - Mr. Nam shared.

Thanks to effective propaganda and mobilization efforts, the blood donation movement in Hoa Lu district has consistently met and exceeded its assigned blood donation targets in recent years. In 2022, it achieved 253% of the plan; in the first six months of 2023, the first blood donation program was organized, mobilizing nearly 600 participants and receiving 500 units of blood, exceeding the set target. Many individuals and families in the district have become exemplary models in the blood donation movement, not only donating blood themselves but also actively encouraging their families, relatives, and the community to participate.

To maintain and widely promote the blood donation movement in Hoa Lu district, in the coming time, the District Steering Committee for Blood Donation will continue to strengthen propaganda work among all strata of the population, through various forms such as direct communication, through the three-level radio station, through exemplary role models that are publicized and replicated... in order to continue to encourage more people to actively and readily participate in blood donation, preventing situations where patients have to wait for blood and medical facilities lack blood for treatment.
