Academy of Journalism and Communication shares information on training majors with Lao Ministry of Education and Sports

On the afternoon of November 12, 2024, a delegation from the Academy of Journalism and Communication led by Dr. Nguyen Duc Toan, Deputy Director of the Academy, had a working session with the Department of Student Management, Ministryof Education and Sports of Laos. The meeting was attended by Comrade Seng-a-lun Keo-say, Deputy Director of the Department, and leaders of relevant departments and offices.

Scene of the working session at the Department of Student Management, Lao Ministry of Education and Sports At the meeting, Comrade Seng-a-lun Keo-say briefly introduced the history, functions and tasks of the Department, and reported on the situation of Lao students studying in Vietnam. He also shared about the need for Lao students to register for study in recent times. The Department of Student Management requested the Academy of Journalism and Communication to provide information about the Academy and its training programs to update on the official website of the Lao Ministry of Education and Sports and notify relevant subjects of the Academy's enrollment. Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Duc Toan gave an overview of the history, training programs, and facilities of the Academy of Journalism and Communication. Established in 1962, the Academy is currently a unit under the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics , with a training scale of more than 12,000 students, trainees, and postgraduates. The Academy has 29 affiliated units, with a team of highly qualified lecturers, including many associate professors, doctors, and masters. Currently, the Academy is training 32 majors and majors at the undergraduate level, 16 majors and majors at the master level, 7 majors at the doctoral level, and 13 training programs. The Academy of Journalism and Communication pays special attention to creating the most favorable learning conditions for Laotian students. Over the years, the Academy has invested in repairing and upgrading the E4 building exclusively for Laotian students, fully equipped with facilities from beds, wardrobes, desks to air conditioners, refrigerators, cooking areas and computer rooms, meeting the needs of studying and living. In the past 5 years, the Academy has received and trained hundreds of Lao students, including both undergraduate and graduate students. In particular, the number of international students graduating each year has always been high, and many of them have been appointed to important leadership positions in the Lao political system after returning home. At the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Duc Toan emphasized the importance of training and fostering Lao students, considering this a special political task in educational cooperation between the two countries. The Academy proposed that the Lao Ministry of Education and Sports and the Central Organizing Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party continue to pay attention, orient and direct the sending of more cadres to study and train at the Academy. This will contribute to improving the quality of the leadership team and strengthening the comprehensive cooperation relationship between Vietnam and Laos. At the end of the meeting, the Department of Student Management, Ministry of Education and Sports of Laos received full information about the training majors of the Academy of Journalism and Communication. The Department pledged to update the Academy’s information on the official website of the Lao Ministry of Education and Sports and introduce the Academy to Lao students, helping them have more opportunities to learn about study programs. The meeting took place in a friendly and open atmosphere, expressing the expectations of both sides for new developments in the future.
