On the morning of June 16, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Journalists Association held a press conference to inform about the National Press Festival 2025 and the 19th National Press Awards Ceremony - 2024.

The 2025 National Press Festival, organized by the Vietnam Journalists Association under the direction of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission, in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, is a practical activity towards the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), to celebrate the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025), the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Journalists Association (April 21, 1950 - April 21, 2025) and is an event of special significance within the framework of activities to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025).
According to Ms. Le My Ai Linh, Acting Director of the Vietnam Press Museum, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Organizing Committee of the National Press Festival 2025, this is not only a great festival for the press nationwide but also an opportunity for journalists to review the glorious and proud tradition; to honor the achievements, contributions and silent sacrifices of journalists throughout a century, from the first newspaper pages serving the revolution to modern multimedia press products contributing to the construction and development of the country.
The theme “Vietnamese Press - Loyal, creative, courageous, innovative for the cause of building and defending the Fatherland” demonstrates the spirit of innovation, creativity, and comprehensive vision of the press, with many impressive exhibitions, rich and practical professional activities, and unique cultural and artistic programs.
This year's National Press Festival has more than 80 central and local press units participating, with nearly 130 booths of newspapers and magazines from popular to specialized, major journalism training institutions, on economics - politics - culture - society - national defense - security - foreign affairs of the country.
Many press agencies demonstrate multi-platform press products, applying new technologies such as AI, 3D modeling, holofan, virtual reality...
The highlight of the central space is the thematic exhibition “100 years of Vietnamese Revolutionary Press: Achievements and trends in press development in the new era”. For the first time, the press conference has a space to display the history of press hosted by the Vietnam Press Museum. On this occasion, the Ministry of Science and Technology also organized the issuance of a special stamp set on the occasion of “Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day”.
The series of activities to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press featured the 2nd National Press Forum held in the press conference space. There were 12 discussion sessions with practical content, related to the top concerns of the Vietnamese press, such as "Vietnamese press - vision in the new era"; "Women's voices in news management"; "Developing young user groups"; "AI and the strategy of newsrooms"; "Data journalism in Vietnamese newsrooms"; "What strategy does television have to retain readers"; "How does radio compete in the development trend of podcasts"; "Personalizing content to keep readers loyal"; "Revenue sources - which mechanism is really effective for the press"; "Resolution 18 and the requirement to innovate press personnel"...
The 2025 National Press Conference opens at 9am on June 19, broadcast live on Vietnam Television and Voice of Vietnam. The closing ceremony will take place at 3pm on June 21, broadcast live on Hanoi Radio and Television and Voice of Vietnam.
128 outstanding works were awarded the National Press Award in 2024
Regarding the 19th National Press Awards Ceremony - 2024, Mr. Tran Thai Son, Head of the Professional and Communications Department (Vietnam Journalists Association), Head of the Secretariat of the 19th National Press Awards, said that the 19th National Press Awards Ceremony will take place on the evening of June 21 at My Dinh Athletics Palace (Hanoi), broadcast live on VTV2 - Vietnam Television, VOV2 - Voice of Vietnam.
With the participation of 17/21 inter-branch associations, 29 affiliated branches, 59/63 provincial and municipal Journalists Associations, with 1,970 works, through the selection rounds, 128 excellent press works were awarded, including 13 A prizes, 27 B prizes, 49 C prizes and 39 Encouragement prizes. This is also the first year that the National Press Awards have included 2 new award categories: Multimedia Journalism and Creative Journalism.
According to the Organizing Committee, this year's entries comprehensively and deeply reflect the country's political, economic, cultural, social, security, defense and foreign affairs life in 2024, with prominent topics such as: Streamlining the apparatus to bring the country into a new era, institutional reform, procedural reform, administrative unit arrangement; digital transformation, green transformation, green economic development...
Hot social issues such as the damage caused by super typhoon Yagi and the relief activities for the people, production restoration, deforestation, overexploitation of mineral resources, the suppression of smuggled and counterfeit goods, the issue of driving tests, the phenomenon of Thich Minh Tue... are mentioned. Many works are written about good people doing good deeds, noble acts, convincing and touching.
Journalist Nguyen Duc Loi, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Permanent Vice President of the National Press Awards Council, commented: “The highlight of this year is the multimedia press products, creative press that press agencies have invested in elaborately, applying modern press technology, developing multi-platform, multimedia press but still standardizing content, ensuring political, ideological, accurate, timely, having positive and strong social impact, increasing attractiveness and increasing public access. The works selected by the Final Jury are very worthy of being awarded the 19th National Press Awards”.
