(NADS) - On the morning of November 18th, the Hanoi Art Photography Association held the launching ceremony for the Lavender Photography Club. Hoang Ngoc Thach, a member of the Executive Board of the Hanoi Art Photography Association, is the club's chairman.
Attending the ceremony were photographer Ly Hoang Long, member of the Art Council of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists; photographer Than Nguyen, member of the Art Council of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, President of the Da Nang Art Photography Association; photographer Nguyen Van Toan, President of the Hanoi Art Photography Association; photographer Nguyen Thi Tuyet Minh – Member of the Executive Committee; Head of the Movement Committee of the Hanoi Art Photography Association; photographer Hoang Ngoc Thach, member of the Executive Committee of the Hanoi Art Photography Association, Head of the Lavender Photography Club; photographer and painter Lai Dien Dam, along with numerous photographers from across the capital city.
The Lavender Art Photography Club was launched with 40 members, mostly students of photographer Hoang Ngoc Thach. The club members come from diverse professions, including civil servants, businesspeople, and students, who approached photography like "blank slates" with very little exposure to art photography—mostly only months—but always share a burning passion for this visual art form.
At the ceremony, the club was launched with the following positions: Chairman, photographer Hoang Ngoc Thach, and Vice-Chairmen, photographers Phung Duc Hung, Viet Nga, and Tran Van Thang. Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of the club, photographer Hoang Ngoc Thach, emphasized that the club's artistic criteria prioritize thinking and creativity in photography. The most important factor in creating a valuable photograph lies with the artist behind the lens, with the mindset of "We take the picture – not the camera." In other words, the artist's perspective and heart are crucial to creating a valuable photograph because "if you look at life with ordinary eyes, there will be nothing to photograph."
As the head of the club, photographer Ngoc Thach also expressed: "I want to do my best to support those who share a love and passion for photography, whom I have had the chance to meet, so that they can walk steadily and intelligently on their artistic path."
Also at the ceremony, photographer Nguyen Van Toan, President of the Hanoi Art Photography Association, commented: "Up to now, the club members have begun to create many photographs that capture the soul, emotions, and reflections of each individual. He also hoped that the launch of the club would promote a spirit of mutual learning, work, and creativity, so that members would strive to create emotionally rich and meaningful photographs, contributing to the development of photography in the capital city."
Photography and Life Magazine would like to introduce to readers some photographic works of Lavender Photography Club members.
