This morning, July 26, the Quang Tri Association for the Blind organized the 4th competition on massage skills for the visually impaired. This competition attracted the participation of 29 visually impaired technicians from districts, towns, and city associations in the area.

At the contest, each contestant will take a test that integrates theory and practice within a maximum of 25 minutes. In the theory part, contestants will answer questions related to anatomy, meridians, and acupuncture points according to the outline compiled by the Central Association of the Blind of Vietnam. In the practice part, contestants will massage and acupressure 5 body areas including: head, neck, shoulders, upper limbs, back, and lower limbs.
Most of the technicians participating in the competition performed well. Many technicians performed the techniques very skillfully: kneading, squeezing, rolling, vibrating, punching... With extensive experience, some contestants were highly appreciated by the judges.

At the end of the contest, the organizing committee awarded 2 A prizes, 3 B prizes, 4 C prizes, and 12 Encouragement prizes to individuals. Technician Nguyen Thi Nguyet and technician Truong Dinh Phuc, both from the Dong Ha City Blind Association, won the A prize. As for the collective, the organizing committee awarded the First Prize to the Dong Ha City Blind Association; the Second Prize to the Cam Lo District Blind Association; and the Third Prize to the Trieu Phong District Blind Association.

Chairman of the Provincial Blind Association Nguyen Tang Mui said that in recent times, the association has made great efforts in vocational training and job creation for its members. In particular, realizing that the massage profession is suitable for the conditions and health of the visually impaired, the association's staff always encourages and motivates its members to actively study. It has been recorded that 95% of its members have had jobs and stable incomes after being trained; some members have opened their own massage and massage establishments.
“The massage and kneading competition is organized by the Provincial Blind Association every two years with the desire to help members improve their knowledge and skills. This is also a place for officials and members to exchange, learn and share experiences. The excellent technicians who won the A prize at this year's competition will continue to be trained to participate in the national massage competition scheduled to take place next September,” Mr. Nguyen Tang Mui added.
