On Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, Hoi An, leather shops put up signs saying they were open after nearly a week of being "paralyzed" by the flood. A souvenir shop owner on Nguyen Thai Hoc Street said the floodwaters had damaged a lot of her belongings, but thanks to the extra workers being mobilized to clean up, her shop reopened at noon.

"There are so many foreign tourists that I have to open my doors to welcome them and sell wherever I go because I'm used to the annual floods," said the shop owner.

Of all the flooded areas in Hoi An, the old town center is given priority for early treatment because it is a tourist center.

Chairman of Hoi An Ward People's Committee Nguyen Tan Cuong said that he has mobilized all forces, with the help of 300 officers and soldiers of Military School of Military Region 5 and the public environmental company to work day and night to clear the mud and soon bring the old town back to life.

In just one day, the appearance of the walking street has gradually become cleaner under the layer of mud compared to the messy image of the day before.

In areas on the southern bank of the Hoai River, military forces were also mobilized to clear floods at schools, medical facilities, and government agencies.

The area on both sides of Nguyen Tri Phuong Street, the old Cam Kim area, was the deepest flooded area in mud, and by the afternoon of October 1, the mud had gradually been cleared.
