More than 1,000 households in Dak Nong join hands to produce pepper

Many benefits from the chain link

Dak Nong currently has 10 sustainable pepper production and consumption chains; including 2 production groups, 5 cooperatives, 2 enterprises, with a total area of ​​1,630 hectares.

Over 1,000 households have joined long-term pepper production links, linked to certification standards, with an output of over 3,800 tons/crop. All of these chains are developing strongly in both scale and production value.

Specifically, in the pepper chain of Doan Ket Agricultural Service Cooperative, Nam Binh Commune, Dak Song District. This chain has a number of linked households each year always higher than the previous year.

Mr. Luu Nhu Binh, Director of Doan Ket Agricultural Service Cooperative, said that up to now, the cooperative has 65 members growing 150 hectares of pepper. Of which, 50 hectares of USDA organic certified pepper and 50 hectares of RA certified pepper are both for export.

Produced according to the value chain and certified, the cooperative's pepper products always have better competitive prices than the general market level, bringing high profits to members.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Cong's family, a member of Doan Ket Agricultural Service Cooperative, has 1 hectare of pepper certified organic, with an output of 4 tons in 2024.

Mr. Cong affirmed: “By joining the association, I receive many benefits such as the selling price is always higher than the market price. My family learns to apply a synchronous scientific and natural farming process, protecting the soil, water environment, and personal health.”

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha, in Nam Binh commune, realizing the benefits of the association, in early 2025, she applied to join the Doan Ket Agricultural Service Cooperative to produce pepper according to the process. She and 5 other households are waiting for approval from the Cooperative's Board of Directors to become members.

Over the years, Binh Minh Production - Trade - Service Cooperative has always strived to build a sustainable, value-based pepper production chain in Cu Jut district.

Mr. Le Anh Son, Director of the Cooperative, said that the Cooperative has connected with many businesses and units such as Nedspice Vietnam Spice Processing Company Limited, Vietnam Pepper Association... to ensure stable pepper output, avoiding market fluctuations. When connecting, HXT is more assured of goods sources in terms of both quality and quantity.

Currently, the Cooperative has expanded its raw material areas to 5 districts, 14 communes, with 27 groups of farmers. The number of farmers associated with the Cooperative to produce pepper is increasing, currently reaching over 900 households. Up to now, the area of ​​pepper linked to the Cooperative's value chain is 1,420 hectares, with an output of over 3,000 tons/year.

Manufacturing industry products according to standards and high quality

Currently, sustainable pepper production has been and is being carried out in most key pepper growing localities of Dak Nong.

Dak Nong has 24 pepper production facilities according to certified standards, with an area of ​​over 3,100 hectares. The province has recognized 2 high-tech pepper production areas in Thuan Ha and Thuan Hanh communes, Dak Song district, with a total area of ​​1,549.4 hectares.

In these two high-tech pepper growing areas, people produce, cooperate and have their products consumed according to organic and Rainforest standards, are certified with the collective brand name Dak Song Pepper, and the Geographical Indication of Dak Nong Pepper, promoting advantages and shaping the brand name of the province's pepper.

This has contributed to increasing the value, quality of products and economic efficiency from pepper cultivation. Associated households are supported with techniques and products are purchased at a good agricultural production price (GAP) higher than 3,000 VND/kg; organic standards are 1.5 times higher than conventional production. Of which, VietGAP covers an area of ​​322.8 hectares; organic is 601.7 hectares; other standards such as Flo, Rainfores cover 2,219.8 hectares.

To develop the pepper industry sustainably, Dak Nong is focusing on improving quality and developing value chain linkages, applying good agricultural production processes (GAP).

The province prioritizes developing pepper production in the direction of biological and organic production; promoting the advantages of geographical indications of products to build brands, moving towards creating a Dak Nong pepper brand in the market.

Dak Nong currently has 33,789 hectares of pepper, with an output of 70.68 tons/crop, an increase of 28,458 tons compared to 2018. Currently, Dak Nong ranks first in the country in terms of pepper acreage, and second in output (after Dak Lak province).

According to Mr. Ngo Xuan Dong, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, in the coming time, Dak Nong will focus on improving quality, developing value chain linkages, and prioritizing the development of pepper production in the direction of biological and organic production.

The province will focus on developing the pepper industry value chain linkages associated with production linkages and consumption linkages of pepper products through concentrated production areas.

The province improves productivity and product quality; promotes the advantage of geographical indications of Dak Nong pepper products to build product brands and strongly affirm the Dak Nong pepper brand in the market.

Currently, the Dak Nong province's agricultural sector has been focusing on implementing groups of solutions to reorganize production according to the industry value chain, including planning and developing large-scale raw material areas.

The province focuses on producing goods according to high standards and quality. The agricultural sector promotes the development of the collective economy, with cooperatives as the core; strengthens the connection and cooperation between enterprises and farming households in the value chain from production, processing and consumption.

Specialized agencies and localities should step up guidance for people to apply scientific and technological achievements in production; build production databases for each household, plot, land plot, and crop variety as a basis for applying digital transformation.
