As Thanh Nien reported, national youth gymnastics team athlete Nguyen Minh Triet is receiving treatment in Hanoi after suffering a very serious injury.
The heartbreaking incident happened while athlete Nguyen Minh Triet was practicing with the Vietnam youth gymnastics team at the National Sports Training Center in Hanoi. Triet was practicing the acrobatic track, doing 2 somersaults and then turning 360 degrees, but due to losing his sense of air, he fell headfirst into the pit, his limbs became paralyzed and he was taken to the hospital for emergency treatment and surgery immediately after.
Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Gymnastics Federation, Ms. Phan Thuy Linh said that athlete Nguyen Minh Triet suffered from spinal cord paralysis and collapsed pneumonia, and the possibility of recovery is very low.

Athlete Nguyen Minh Triet's family is also very difficult. His father is over 60 years old and retired, his mother has cancer. Triet has an older brother who is sick and unable to work and a 5-year-old sister. Every month, he sends all the salary he receives from the team to his parents.
After the situation of young athlete Nguyen Minh Triet was published in the press and media, many individuals and organizations donated money. According to information from the Vietnam Gymnastics Federation, as of 10:00 a.m. today (December 28), the total amount of donations received was more than 2 billion VND.
Specifically, the Vietnam Gymnastics Federation's account received 595 million VND in donations. Mr. Nguyen Huu Minh's account (athlete Nguyen Minh Triet's father) received about 1.4 billion VND in donations, plus 137 million VND in cash that was handed over to his family. Thus, the total amount of donations is 2.1 billion VND.
The Vietnam Gymnastics Federation will hand over the donations received through the account to the family of athlete Nguyen Minh Triet.
Hopefully with the kindness and encouragement of many fans, a miracle will happen, so that the talent of the Vietnamese youth gymnastics team can recover.
