This activity is part of the National Tourism Year 2023 with the theme "Binh Thuan - Green Convergence", organized by the Vietnam Cultural and Arts Exhibition Center (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) in coordination with the People's Committees of the provinces and cities of: Hai Phong, Bac Giang, Vinh Phuc, Hung Yen, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Kien Giang, Tien Giang, Tra Vinh , Soc Trang, Bac Lieu, Ca Mau and Binh Thuan.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Dang Chuong, Director of the Vietnam Cultural and Art Exhibition Center, emphasized that Vietnam's maritime and island cultural heritage is the culmination of the wisdom and solidarity of the coastal communities from the past to the present. Despite numerous historical events, losses, and destruction caused by war and harsh natural conditions, this treasure trove of cultural heritage remains incredibly vast, unique, and precious.

Vietnam has over 3,200 km of coastline and approximately 1 million km2 of exclusive economic zone, stretching from Mong Cai, Quang Ninh to Ha Tien, Kien Giang ; it has over 40 bays, 2,773 coastal islands, and the Truong Sa and Hoang Sa archipelagos. In particular, the coastal region boasts numerous world cultural and natural heritage sites such as Ha Long Bay, Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex, Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, Hue Imperial City Complex, Hoi An Ancient Town, world-renowned biosphere reserves and national parks, caves, beautiful beaches, and many unique traditional festivals. All these conditions create enormous potential for the development of cultural tourism in Vietnam's coastal and island areas, contributing to the Vietnamese cultural identity.
The exhibition is a cultural event aimed at introducing and celebrating the unique cultural and tourism values of the coastal and island regions to the people and international friends; further enhancing awareness, national pride, and community responsibility in the management, preservation, and promotion of historical values, resources, and the cultural and tourism environment of the coastal and island regions, contributing to the sustainable development of the country as well as the protection of the sovereignty of the homeland's seas and islands.
Running from August 27th to September 2nd, the exhibition featured a variety of rich, vibrant, and impressive activities. The highlight was the exhibition of over 200 photographs with the main theme "Cultural Heritage of Vietnam's Seas and Islands," focusing on showcasing artifacts, ancient maps, and Han Nom documents about the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos, as well as Nguyen Dynasty documents containing information about Vietnam's maritime sovereignty; and the concern of President Ho Chi Minh, the Party, and the State for the construction and firm protection of the nation's maritime sovereignty…

In addition, the exhibition also features a display space promoting the cultural and tourism potential of the coastal and island areas of 22 provinces and cities across the country. Here, localities showcase the unique aspects of their culture, tourism, festivals, scenic spots, marine products, and traditional handicrafts characteristic of their respective regions. Furthermore, the exhibition includes performances and cultural and artistic exchanges that deeply portray the spiritual and cultural values of coastal communities along the country's coastline.
