This agreement allows many Vietnamese athletes and coaches to train in France, as well as France to introduce experts in some key and strong sports to support Vietnam.
This is just the latest activity in a series of cooperation events between Vietnamese sports and French organizations from 2024 to present, such as the agreement with the French Embassy in Vietnam on promoting athlete exchanges in February 2005, or the deployment of French Coach Pro training management software for the national team system.
Previously, the Vietnamese women's football team was invited to play a friendly match with the French team, which is a world- class team, or midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai became the first Vietnamese player to sign a transfer contract to play in Ligue 2.
France is a very strong country in top sports and is also the first European Union (EU) country to have a comprehensive strategic partnership with Vietnam, while the Vietnamese community in France is the largest in Europe, with a large number of intellectuals and businessmen.
This is a good opportunity for Vietnamese sports to take advantage of, to promote international achievements through French training and technology platforms to meet the requirements of reaching the world level through global sports events...
Of course, having relationships and being willing to support partners is one thing, but optimizing those advantages is another.
In fact, Vietnamese sports also have many agreements on sports cooperation with advanced countries such as Germany, Belgium, Norway, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Australia, but so far the level of exploitation is not deep, mainly still supporting activities for short-term training locations. The number of experts from other countries coming to Vietnam to work is not much, and the time is not long.
Meanwhile, Vietnamese sports are in great need of technology transfer in organization, management, training as well as modern training conditions. Furthermore, it is the way to build and operate large-scale facilities, club management models, especially the way to train and “export” athletes.
With the strategy of developing sports according to a key model, focusing on the quality of athletes and digital transformation in top-level sports management, international cooperation needs to be more in-depth, substantial and focused. For example, in football, France and Japan should be considered as "doors" for Vietnamese players to access world professional football in the long term.
Similarly, in other sports, we should also rely on the suitability and specific strengths of each country with a cooperation agreement to avoid spreading and wasting opportunities. In other words, we should be selective and focus on asking the other side to support in aspects and areas that are weak and lacking and cannot be overcome in the short term, such as supporting high-class experts or core technology in training...
Vietnam has the highest level of diplomatic relations with more than a dozen of the world's leading developed countries, in which culture and sports are areas that are easily accessible and can quickly materialize the cooperation process. Great opportunities need to be accompanied by decisive and effective actions.
