According to the Provincial Task Force, since the implementation of the Agreement between the Government of Vietnam and the Royal Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia signed on August 28, 2000 in Phnom Penh, up to now, 2 teams searching and collecting martyrs' remains under the Provincial Military Command (K92, K93) have searched and collected 4,286 martyrs' remains. The search process was carried out in 6 provinces: Koh Kong, Kampong Speu, Preah Sihanouk, Takeo, Kampot, Kep.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Task Force Le Trung Ho shared: "The search, collection and repatriation of martyrs' remains has profound significance, demonstrating the Vietnamese people's morality of remembering the source of water when drinking, remembering the person who planted the tree when eating fruit. The search, collection and repatriation of martyrs' remains in recent times has achieved many results thanks to the close coordination and assistance of leaders at all levels, authorities, Task Force, armed forces and people of provinces in the Kingdom of Cambodia in collecting, providing information, guiding, protecting and assisting the search and collection teams of martyrs' remains."
Continuing that meaningful journey, from October 6 to 10, the Provincial Task Force signed a cooperation agreement to search for, collect, and repatriate the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died during the war in Cambodia, phase XXV (dry season 2025 - 2026) with the Task Force of 6 neighboring provinces. The Provincial Task Force will continue to direct the armed forces, relevant agencies, and relevant localities to strengthen propaganda, mobilize officials and people to actively support and announce information about the graves and remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died during the war in the area. At the same time, organize forces to guide, protect, and create favorable conditions for Team K92 and K93 to carry out their tasks in absolute safety, achieving the best results. Team K92 and Team K93 proactively coordinated closely with relevant forces, authorities at all levels and people to search, collect and repatriate martyrs' remains to achieve the best results.
The cooperation in searching, collecting and repatriating martyrs' remains also contributes to strengthening the solidarity and friendship between An Giang and the provinces of the Kingdom of Cambodia. Mr. Bun Yaung - Deputy Governor, Head of the Kep Provincial Task Force, commented: "In recent times, the two provinces of Kep - An Giang have cooperated well in many fields, including the search, collection and repatriation of martyrs' remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts. We express our deep gratitude to the Government and People of Vietnam for helping Cambodia during the war, supporting the process of building and developing Cambodia. Kep province will continue to coordinate well with An Giang province in the search, collection of martyrs' remains and in economic development cooperation, contributing to strengthening the relationship of solidarity and friendship".
Mr. Le Trung Ho said that although there have been many efforts in coordination, due to changes in terrain and topography, there are still many martyrs' remains that have not been found. The province will continue to promote cooperation with provinces of the Kingdom of Cambodia to coordinate, support and create favorable conditions for specialized teams to complete this sacred task.
