According to Thai media, Chanathip Songkrasin has returned to play for BG Pathum United from next season.

On June 21, Kawasaki Frontale Club's homepage also announced the farewell of the 1993-born star.

To have Chanathip's service, the Golden Temple team had to spend 2 million USD (about 46 billion VND) for Kawasaki Frontale.

At BG Pathum United, the star of the Thai national team will wear the familiar number 18 shirt.

Currently, Chanathip's contract term and salary with BG Pathum United have not been specifically announced.

However, some sources said that the two sides will sign a contract with a term of 3-4 years.

In the BG Pathum United shirt, "Thai Messi" will reunite with familiar teammates on the national team, Sarach Yooyen and Teerasil Dangda.

The presence of the Thai team captain promises to increase the strength of BG Pathum United in the title race.

Returning to play in the Thai League also ends Chanathip's 6-year journey playing football in Japan.

In 2017, the "evil spirit" of the Vietnamese team played for Consadole Sapporo under a loan contract from Muangthong United.

Here, this midfielder quickly demonstrated his star qualities and was bought outright by the Japanese team.

After 4 years at Consadole Sapporo, Chanathip played 123 matches, scored 15 goals and 22 assists. He was in the 2018 J-League 1 best squad.

In January 2022, Chanathip came to play for Kawasaki Frontale with a transfer fee of 3.8 million USD.

But at his new team, the 30-year-old star only had 27 appearances. In the 2023 season, he only played 140 minutes in J-League 1.
